Best GAA Pitches in County

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

1 - Kilmalock
2 - Bruff
3 - Newcastle West
4 - Gaelic Grounds (pre lighting)
5 - Ballingarry

This is my Top 5. A lot of work going into NCW at the moment to improve the surface. Ballingarry also a top pitch.

Worst ones have to be Tournafulla, Knockaderry and Caherline!

St Patricks. Probably the biggest field in the county.

Patrickswell has to be the worst. If you stood at one corner looking directly across the peoples shins on the far side would meet eye level

Patrickswell's pitch is the best. Its 45-degree slope at the School End guarantees excellent drainage throughout the year.

In winter, there is ample skiing and toboggan running to rival Andorra.

In no particular order.

St. Senans Pitch: Along with St. Pats probably the biggest pitch in county. Good all year round.
Stakers: Savage lights and also good all year around.
Gaelic Grounds: Now with Lights it is a classy pitch. The surface has come on an awful lot in the past 2 years. A boy willie!
NCW: Only in summer months. Tight field, good atmosphere when playing there.
Bruff: Haven't played there much but a good level pitch with a nice surface.

I was playing there too angrybeaver, ball bouncing along the ground from a puck out nearly hopped over my headwen it hit a bobble.. Staker Wallace has to be the best, played there last December, pitch was perfect when the rest of the count was drowned!!

I love Ballingarry, excellent surface, nice atmosphere even with a small crowd. My #1

Foynes pitch is now also a great surface, particularly when everywhere else is flooded - 1 complaint though, the midges are brutal there, you'd be going around with lumps the size of strawberries for a week after it.

Glin is v heavy, not a wet weather pitch. Staker is good, dunno if it was main pitch or back pitch, both look good. NCW can be a sheet of concrete in dry weather. Kilcornan has brutal sod, Askeaton a bit wet/heavy/bumpy, GG is a fine pitch, again a lovely sod.
