Best penalty taker ever (football)

What do you think folks? Please don't say Charlie Redmond though!! I always thought Jack O'Shea was the best I've seen from the 13 metre line.

Gary Mason from Co. Down never missed apparently, Prob the most consistant with maurice fitz
For great individual penaltys, Giles under pressure in the All-Ireland of '96, Kieran McDonald the year after took a good one. Jimmy Keavney hit a rasper in the '76 final.

stephen o neill would be as good as anyone

I see someone mentioned trevor giles in 96. I was directly behind that goal and the way he curled the ball into the corner was magnificent. Heartbreaking but magnificent. Madden in the mayo goal never moved

Just on that point Nineholebar, i do often wonder why players dont just take a point from a penalty. Its not like soccer where the odds are in favour of the kicker. In gaa the goals are alot smaller, the ball heavier and the penalty spot further out. Its quite difficult to score a goal. I would always feel that unless a team are in desperate need of a goal they would be better knocking it over the bar

Is this another non GAA thread? Anyway the best penalty taker in history must be Mick Lyons. Never saw him missing one.

Giles certainly wasn't the best penelty taker - he scored in the 1996 final but missed in both the 1999 and 2001 deciders. Also missed a vital one in the 1994 drawn Leinster U21FC final against Laois.
