428570 Ulsterman it is you who has the partitionist attitude, anytime people criticise tyrone, armagh etc, you immediately assume it is because they are from ulster. Can you not comprehend that maybe people just dont like the way they play football or ryan mcmenimen or whatever criticism they are making and its nothing to do with what province they are from.

Your partitionist attitude and obvious paranoia seem to make you believe that any criticism or banter towards ulster teams must be because they are from ulster. Its ridiculous, every county gets criticised.
------------------------------------------------------------------

Then can you explain why the majority of people, including yourself, that "just dont like the way they play football or ryan mcmenimen or whatever criticism they are making and its nothing to do with what province they are from" dont say just that instead of the usual "ulster football", "puke football" generalisations. Go on explain that off as paranoia - you cant, because it is fact.

Can YOU not comprehend this?

I have always had great interest in the All Ireland Final no matter who plays. I remember sitting with my father watching the 1986 Final in which Kerry beat Tyrone, that was the first All Ireland Final i remember. I was the highlight of the footballing calendar.

Ulsterman- you may be true to say that there is very little excitment up north for the All Ireland Final but that is down to the current climate of supporters that have culminated behind successful Ulster teams.
Take for example Tyrone(my own county). In recent years i have fought tooth and nail to get tickets to County games(following them since 1986), only to rub shoulders with fellow "Gaels" who were only there because "it's a good days craic","i got a free ticket" etc etc. These supporters have no interest in the sport of GAA Football whatsoever, I even had to ask for the last Kerry/Cork AI Final game to be shown in my local Bar and was told no because "Man Utd are on and sure it's not as if Tyrone are playing anyway!!!".....and the same bar runs a bus to the Tyrone Games.

I grew up in a house where All Ireland Final Day was the be all and end all., a Celebration of our culture and a chance to watch some great talented AMATEUR football players put their bodies on the line as if their life depended on it, and just for a cup called SAM. Until any Gaels(North or South) find this love of the GAA then the All Ireland Final means nothing to them, and i'm afraid to say that it is because of these IGNORANT so called "Gaels" that i sometimes hate going to watch my own county Tyrone for they are plenty.

I understand where you're coming from, you don't understand where I am coming from. You maintain that you dont like the style of play of Tyrone, Armagh, Ryan McMenamin etc but instead of saying exactly that you say "Ulster football" and hate say Antrim football by association. Why would this be? I dont connect it to partitionism - you do. I'd bet that you dont do the same thing with regard to other provinces If I didn't like Tyrones style of play I'd say it, rather than say I hate an entire provinces style of play. You could be right about me being paranoid, but I'm not paranoid enough to create other logins ;) You should try being a paranoid ulsterman for a while - you'll get much more enjoyment out of the championship when you dont have a chip on your shoulder about a certain section of the island.

UI think ulsterman is a bit confused his thread is titled with "north of the border" and then he talks about ulster. What are you on about? Is it 6 county teams or ulster teams? Make your mind up Mr partitionist. PS when the dubs call donegal people nordies they are correct, check a map or drive across "the border" and enlighten yourself.

Up Cork and Armagh.

Well said Tom, my old mucker.

breff the term ulster football is not a stricly literal term people know what it means, if you want to be pedantic and pick holes in every single comment regarding ulster and deem anything said as an attack against ulster then go ahead. It proves my point.

Enjoy the game on sunday

If you're a Gaelic fan it's of little significance who is playing. Of course I support my local team - but there's little hope of them getting anywhere with recent bad form. I respect Harte's leadership and Tyrone's a force to be reckoned with. Looking forward to this Sunday's match - Cork to win I say.

Its a fair point bad monkey. For instance, why was the tyrone/armagh final described as an all ulster final, but the cork/kerry final is an all southern final, as opposed to an all munster final?

I believe that the reason anyone wouldnt be looking forward to the tyrone/armagh final would have more to do with the type of games that all ulster meetings are renowned for. Its nothing to do with partitions, just football. Why does it always have to be a conspiracy? Get over it man

I wasn't far wrong. After 15 mins it WAS the usual sleep inducing boring Kerry shoe in which was NEVER in doubt and any much more of this will do serious damage to Gaelic football. Croke Park and any sensible GAA fan should get on their knees and thank the GOOD LORD for Tyrone, Armagh and Derry over the past decade. Without them interest in the game would have waned a long time ago. There is NO opposition to Kerry south of the border so join with me in giving thanks and praise for the Ulstermen who keep Gaelic games alive.

Thanks and Praise to Tyrone Armagh and Derry who have kept Gaelic Football Alive in this Decade. We wont mention The Kerry and Galway teams who have won 7 All irelands this Decade But praise to Armagh who won one in the early part of the decade Tyrone quite rightly who won 3 and derry who won ??? the National League. But then so did Mayo and Donegal. But i suppose Mayo, Donegal and Galway are in the Republic so they dont count. Have a happy partition Ulsterman i know i am.

What have Derry done in the last decade.....and Armagh great as they are only beat Kerry once and lost twice. Tyrone have been excellent in fairness when they've got far enough to face Kerry?

You seem to have a fixation on Kerry...why?
