Little interest North of the Border?

hipster I totally agree with you. This man obviously no way reflects how any other person in ulster feels. I cannot wait to see the best 2 teams in Ireland battle it out on Sunday and I have never cared who they are as every All Ireland is special and I would never miss one.

Everyone is having a right old go at Ulsterman. I can say hand on my heart that Ulsterman is one the most understanding and knowledgible people in the GAA, He strives to create irish unity and understanding towards other Cultures. He follows his County Tyrone all over the country

Ulsterman what are you on about?

It is the peak of the Irish sporting calendar and you are making a sweeping generalisation that no one in the North has any interest?
For me its like saying that you have no interest in Christmas!

I can tell you now for myself and from talking to people there is alot of interest in Tyrone and I would say in most other counties as well.
I will be glued to the box the whole way through!

Would you believe it, that probably the most enjoyable All Irelands I attended were those, and there were many, when I was a neutral> I was relaxed and could enjoy the game more. Actually I saw the game with a clearer view because when your own team are playing one is apt to see it from one angle only. All true football fans enjoy All Ireland finals, so to those who say that they are not interested, hard luck.

What an insular approach. This is the sort of comment you would slaughter others for. As somone else has said yourself and Gregory must be bosom buddies. He'd be proud of you.

There will be plenty of interest from Proud Ulster gaels on sunday for the Biggest day in the Gaa calender.I seem to remember many of Northern fans on here complainin about missin out on the Dublin/Kerry game when they had to work the same day.Ulsterman you will watch the final, and so will all Gaa supporters all over the world. All four provinces are involved-Connacht/Ulster in the Minor-Munster in the Senior and of course the Game is in Leinster!

I doubt what Ulsterman says about the six counties is true for the majority of GAA fans but there definitely is truth to the statement: "When Tyrone and Armagh reached the All Ireland final in 2003 there was many in the South who said they had no interest in the match because it was between two Ulster sides"

So some people need to get down off their high horse.

Ulsterman. you are obviously not a true gael. I am from ulster (though admittedly south of the border) the all-ireland final will always have a special place in my heart. i would watch it every year and I am really looking forward to this years final as I believe Cork will really put it up to Kerry. They have learnt their lesson. They are much more aggresive this year and are much fitter all around the field. The all-ireland final belongs to the country not just the participating teams or the province the come from. Also I could't believe Paidi O' Se comment that the game should be played in munster because of the recession and the fact that we were bringing all these poor supporters to Dublin. This is total nonsense. As I said the All-Ireland final is not the sole preserve of the participating teams but it for the whole GAA community and as such it should always be played at headquarters.

It dosn't matter where you are from when it is all ireland final day, I dont think that being from a county with no teams in the final matters, There is still a great interest to see who is crowned the champions. Am I wrong?

Personally, I'm going to shout for the Armagh minors then sit back and enjoy a senior final where I have no reason to take sides.

I'll be down in Dublin for the game regardless, its an occasion to celebrate all that is good about the GAA (and a good excuse for a blarge of stout!)

Can't wait for the game, a clash of the best two teams in the country at the minute as well as two fantastic minor teams. All Ireland Sundays are the best two days of the year and if we get two games close to the quality I watched proudly from the Lower Cusack Sunday week last I'll be a happy man. Cork to win would be a nice change although I'm sure the Kingdom will have something to say about that. Good luck to all four teams and come on the minors from Armagh

I know some good Gaels in Ulster going for the occasion. Like the Hurling its the highlight in our country every Sept no matter who is playing. Best of luck to the minor teams.

Breffni39 was the only one who could see the point I was making. Of course I will be watching on Sunday and will be cheering for Armagh & Cork but I quite clearly recall many pundits and fans south of the border stating that they had no interest in the All Ireland final contested by two Ulster teams in 2003. There were a lot of disdainful comments and remarks made then and anyone who says otherwise is talking nonsense. In my opinion there is a strong chance Kerry will do to Cork what they did to Dublin and the game could be over very soon. The finals in 2006 & 2007 were as one sided and boring as any I can remember so say what you want about Tyrone and Armagh at least they had a go at Kerry. As much as I like Cork if they win on Sunday it will go against history and their record of collapsing against Kerry in Croke Park.

It has been mentioned before but you have no idea what the gaa is about if you do not have interest in the all ireland final. It is the greatest day in irish sport every year when everyone looks at the 2 best teams in ireland take on each other and personally i can not wait til sunday.

Ulsterman is from Antrim. He knocks Mayo, Cork, and others, and indeed knocks the Republic of Ireland for allegedly not being interested in a final in 2003 with teams from the six counties. Antrim I am glad to say have a proud history in the GAA and this can be seen in the Guinness Book of Records. Biggest defeat in a football final? Antrim (to CORK by the way) Biggest individual score in a hurling final? N.English V Antrim. Biggest individual score recorded? Nicky Rackard 12 goals and 7 points V ANTRIM. I could go on. But if posters were on her knocking Antrim I would be enraged, because we have a proud record. Ulsterman obviously does not know about Cork's record, THIRTY SIX senior all Ireland's to Tyrone's THREE, or ARMAGH's ONE or Antrim's NONE. Mayo sit alongside Tyrone in the football roll of honour, but have won a lot more provincial titles. So, ULSTERMAN, please, desist from inviting the wrath of Ireland upon Antrim. We deserve better.

I for one can't wait til Sunday. The All-Ireland Finals, Hurling and Football, are in my opinion the biggest days in sport every year and I hope we get the match we all know these two quality sides can serve up.

Both teams have earned the right to be there and are the two best teams in the country, whoever wins is the best as always with the championship.!
