When Tyrone and Armagh reached the All Ireland final in 2003 there was many in the South who said they had no interest in the match because it was between two Ulster sides. If truth be told I feel a bit of the same about Sunday's match involving two Munster teams. With all due respect to Cork Kerry will probably win by 5 points or more as history shows that Kerry/Cork in Croker is a done deal. Kerry are a different animal in HQ against Southern opposition who usually roll over and let Kerry tickle their bellies while running up a cricket score. The boring dreadful one sided All Ireland finals of 2006 and 2007 did more damage to the sport than any so called 'Northern style tactics' ever could and Sunday will probably be the usual yawning Kerry shoe in; a sleep inducing forgone conclusion that does nothing for Gaelic Games. Nobody in the South cares if there is no interest in the All Ireland football final in the North Redhot (Cork) - Posts: 739 - 15/09/2009 10:42:46 426157 Link 0 |
I for one can't wait for the match. I am absolutely gutted that Tyrone aren't in it, but it is still the All Ireland Final. I look forward to it every year, as with the hurling. Sideline_View (Tyrone) - Posts: 62 - 15/09/2009 10:42:50 426158 Link 0 |

I still can't believe that there are people out there using the past Cork v Kerry Croke Park games as proof that Kerry will win. I honestly think Cork are the surest things since last years Hurling Final. The Face (Monaghan) - Posts: 890 - 15/09/2009 11:39:49 426242 Link 0 |
Ulsterman agree with some of your posts but to say there is no interest in the North towards Sunday's final is stretching it a bit. I am certainly looking forward to it. Will the all action Cork reach their potential or will the wise old heads of Kerry swat away the nuisance of Cork once more!!?? Should be a cracker. Good luck to Armagh minors too. I can't wait for the game, I hope Cork trash Kerry but if Cork loose I will damn them for ever as a bunch of bottlers and loosers (I hope I am not putting any pressure on them) sam2008 (Tyrone) - Posts: 799 - 15/09/2009 11:49:14 426267 Link 0 |
Ulsterman, the All-Ireland Final is still a great occasion, regardless of which two counties are contesting it. If you feel there is no interest because there is no Ulster representation, then maybe that says much about your interest in Gaelic Football. I'm looking forward to it but I'm originally from the south anyway. Most of my friends are looking forward to it , particularly the Strabane lads. Took their beating against Cork well in fairness to them. Fancy Cork to win by a couple of points myself. dubupnorth (Dublin) - Posts: 1897 - 15/09/2009 12:31:03 426343 Link 0 |
Lest you forget Ulsterman that Armagh are representing us in a final on Sunday...It doesn't seem to register with you unless Tyrone are playing. I'm looking forward to it, and hope Cork can do the business. Niamh (Derry) - Posts: 2397 - 15/09/2009 12:33:28 426350 Link 0 |
