U21 B Hurling

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

both longd and limerick96 are correct....only 1 player plays wit h/h u-21's from herbertstown, only 2 players from herbertstown are on h/h senior football squad and 5 on their intermediate hurling squad wit only 3 of these starting most games. what would these players do if these 2 clubs werent joined?? There should b no problem with players from small villages like kilteely or pallaskenry joining other clubs as long as other players arent suffering as a result of amaglamations

Weather conditions were shockin for both games yesterday..how this competition can't be played midweek during summer months, i'll never know..its fair to say the 2 best teams in final, hopefully conditions clear in the second half of the week and a sensible venue is picked, has potential to be a crackin game!

Does anybody else think that this pairing of two amalgamated teams in the County U21-B Final is just wrong.
Kilulta Gaela are an amalgamation of Pallaskenry and Kildimo clubs
St Johns are an amalgamation of Hospital/Herbertstown and Kilteely/Dromkeen clubs
I think that it is disgraceful that the County Board allowed amalgamated teams into the B competition.
I've nothinh against amalgamated teams if clubs decide they want this, but these teams should be playing in the A division and I think that a rule should be introduced by the county board to insist on this. Single club teams like Feenagh/Kilmeedy and Cappamore (both beaten semi-finalists) must be sick to the back teeth after being knocked out by these outfits.

re Rathkeale man, i agree, as a general rule, amalgamations should automaticaly play in A competitions. It is tough on teams like Cappamore who go it alone in a B competition only to be knocked out by an amalgamation. If its not sorted for next year maybe we'll all play that game. Its all about fairness and a level playing field at the end of the day.

Rathkeale man, I am with you on this. Problem is at divisonal board level where the clubs are allowed enter B competitions.
Our club played in this competiton and we had 17 togged out, 17 year olds upto 20. At least we played for our own club and wore our own jersey.
Problem is when you get hammered by an amalgamated team its annoying for the players involved.

naomh eoin is not an amalgamation. as i have said before on this thread, if they were then all kilteely/dromkeen players wud be at the disposal of h/h, fellas like paudie aherne for example,a county minor, but they are not. 4 players,3 on the team,1 on and off it. Ye're not good enuf. Get over it.

killulta gaels under 21 team is an amalgamation of 13 kildimo players and 2 pallas players. If they wernt joined these pallas players wouldnt be playin hurling this year so its not as if it is 2 whole clubs joined.

the amalgamation final.should be a good game..think the hospital/kilteely combination should win..very strong everywhere around the field especially down the center plus they also have a very strong sub bench

lads kildimo pallaskenry are the one paris, it is'nt really a joint team. Probaable team for final James Carey(kildimo), Shane O Brien(kildimo), Cian Hayes(kildimo), Mossey Sheehan(pallaskenry), Brian O' Shea(kildimo), Ronan Liston(kildimo), Seamus McKeogh(kildimo), Eoin O Brien (C)(kildimo), Stephen McKeogh(0-6)(kildimo), Ruairi Maher(kildimo), Ciaran Ryan(pallaskenry), Darren Walsh(Pallaskenry), Shane Hayes(0-1)(kildimo), Willie Griffin(0-1)(kildimo), Darren Walsh (Kildimo)(1-01). SubsChris McKenna(kildimo) for Shane Hayes, Tommy Brett(kildimo) for Mossey Sheehan, Eoin Keating(pallaskenry), David Keating(pallaskenry), Aidan Lunn(kildimo), Shane Griffin(injured would be midfield)(kildimo), Chris McMahon(pallaskenry) team for kildimo under 14 county final win in 2002 Darren Walsh; Seamus Mc Keogh,Stephen Mc Keogh,James Carey; Christopher Mc Kenna,Keel Moloney(playing with ballybrown),Rory Maher; Bryan O Shea,John Mc Carthy(nh);Eoin O Brien ,Shane Griffin,Barry Walsh; Trevor Guinnane,Garry O Neill,Cian Hayes. Subs : James Horan,Timmy Carroll,Aidan Lunn,Shane Curtin, Michael Hanrahan, David Fitzgerald. This shows the squad is still the exact same except for Keel Moloney who transfered to ballybrown only 4 other players who are not playing hurling anymore. Add shane O'brien , Ronan liston and William Griffen who have come up from earlier kildimo sides and the squad hasnt changed much except sheehan and ciaran ryan who need to be playing hurling at this standard. Ihope this will stop kilulta bashing once and for all. Because they gave us one serious game when we played in a freindly few weeks back.

Lads, these amalgamations are killing club hurling. Club hurling is the backbone of every community and county. Granted clubs don't have numbers so they join which is understandable, leaving these clubs in the B grade is wrong though. Killulta Gaels are the 1 parish so theres no argument, but leaving east players play in south championship makes no sense. It's hard enough to win county titles without these teams. It should be made mandatory that these teams play A championship. A joke of a set up
