U21 B Hurling

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Lads, just been following the U21b championship there all year...I think Naomh Seáin are serious contenders for it. quality hurlers especially in the half back, midfield, half forward area.....anyone else think of any other contenders? There's a lad named matty quirke, plays half forward-serious prospect I think for the futeure, he's able to put over points from all angles, he's an inspirational figure in the ciaran carey mould. Justin should look him up!

Its Hospital/Herbertstown with 2 or 3 from Kilteely. I very much doubt Justin will ever be looking at Mattie Quirke

A strange combination as on another thread yesterday we were told how Kilteely finished their Junior East final with 9 players under 21 on the field. These amalgamations are very poorly controlled by the county board. Our club is out next weekend at U 21 with 17 players available, the one big thing here is that they are all wearing their club jersey and everyone will get a game. If only 3 of the Kilteely lads are playing with H / H what are the other 6 lads who are good enough to win a Junior East title doing for matches at U 21 level.

Weren't Kilteely joined with Ballybricken/Bohar Mor last year, these amalgamations are becoming a bit of a joke!!

Caherine,Cappamore and South Liberties are the only 3 teams in the u21 B east hurling championship, kilteely dont even join another east team , they join a team in the south division.

Some Divisional championship of players from the East can play in the South!! It also happened in Under 21 football when players from Milford joined with Ahane. Club teams at certain grades are becoming a thing of the past. We now have the prospect of four divisional teams playing in the Senior hurling and some talk of doing the same for football. When will it all stop.

Ahane,Doon,Murroe Bohar,Pallas compete in u21 A

South Liberties,Caherline,Cappamore compete in B

So Kilteely Dromkeen,Ballybricken Bohermor,Fedamore have no represntation in the east U21 A or B HURLING championship!!

We know Kilteely Dromkeen have moved to the South Division to play with Hospital Herbertstown, and sure i suppose Ballybricken and Fedamore are off south to Bruff.....not 100% on that, hard to keep track with Naomh this and Naomh that! How is this allowed to continue!! We are barely scraping a team together in Caherline, its a struggle.

I have to agree with Caherline on this, why is their a lack of interest at CLUB level to field U21 on their own. Clubs have players from 16 years to 21 year olds available thats a span of 6 years and yet clubs claim that they cant field 15 on their own. I am not convinced. I think some clubs are taking the easy option and our association is loosing players as some fellows are getting no matches.

Mattie has got serious pace, poise and power not to mention a wristy striker, something which was definitely lacking up front against Tipp.....I didn't see Paudie Mac or any of the other 5 forwards do much all game....

Kilteely weren't fielding any u21 hurling team this year so a couple of players came to their neighbours to play. Not exactly an amalgamation. just a few lads who wanted to play u-21 hurling this year rather than **** around doing nothing!!! Big Deal!!!

If it was only a couple why the change of name by Hospital Herbertstown. Up to 3 players can play with a neighbouring club without the club having to change its name. On the Junior hurling thread on this site, Kilteely are mentioned as having 9 players under 20 on the fireld at the finish of the East Junior Final. This seems like an amalgamation to me, they should be in A.

New rule. Has to be changed now even if its only one. Several teams/clubs playing contrary to this new rule at the moment!

Cappamore 4-15
Caherline 2-10

Caherline had the bare 15,actually started with 14,twas a poor enough game.
South Liberties should win East easily enough.

As far as i am aware only players between minor and under 21 are allowed play under 21 in Kilteely which amounts to 4 players playing with h/h. Not a big deal.
