im just being real about the whole thing, which do you not think its time everyone else did too, rather than this blinkered vision. i wil meet anyone who wants to about issues in Down football newryview (Down) - Posts: 748 - 14/09/2009 23:34:57 425985 Link 0 |
In my view there is not a big lot in it, the fact that Bryansford and Kilcoo are doing so well this year might edge it towards east down, it is also a common argument that there are not enough east dowm players on the county panel and if you look at the all-ireland winning team of 91/94 there were more players from east down than South Down dabiglad (Down) - Posts: 155 - 15/09/2009 09:45:41 426119 Link 0 |

i'm only new on to this page and to see a topic occur about such a petty thing who's better than who?what age are you newryview is your daddy better than mine??that's what's wrong with this county 'divided' instead of bonding together and getting onto winning ways.and you seem to have issues with stonedog i'm sure his fellow club man was'nt sent to the meeting to speak on behalf of all people in his club! gaa.egghead (Down) - Posts: 35 - 15/09/2009 23:42:33 427344 Link 0 |
As a St Johns man i have to say south down in all levels!! DarrenB (Down) - Posts: 17 - 17/09/2009 22:08:28 429332 Link 0 |
sorry darrenb how have you come to this conclusion?what have clonduff, rostrevor, longstone and burren won any more than castlewellan, leitrim, yourselves?and to say kilcoo is nearly south down?kilcoo is east downs answer to mayobridge south down, correct me if i'm wrong but who has won most u-16 u-14 u-12 all county titles this last 3 years?east down.and the rest of us teams in east down need to take a leaf out of kilcoo's juvenille structure and COMPETE with them gaa.egghead (Down) - Posts: 35 - 17/09/2009 23:47:01 429469 Link 0 |

dumbledore how is it easy two east down teams in the championship final league winners last Year where kilcoo east down team i no mayobridge won the championship but apart from them the rest of south down hasnt covered its self in glory, mayobridge winning 5 in a row doesnt prove that south down are better its shows they were better apart from mayobridge wat other south team has being successful? stonedog (Down) - Posts: 352 - 21/09/2009 20:07:44 432410 Link 0 |

The county board puts too much empahsis on the football, footballers get far too much better treament than our hurlers, its a joke!!!!!!!! GalgetsOwn (Down) - Posts: 118 - 22/09/2009 11:02:53 432893 Link 0 |
well if the hurlers could thrive in the hurling category maybe you wouldnt have this problem mourne_man (Down) - Posts: 35 - 22/09/2009 17:57:13 433427 Link 0 |
Of the last 30 SFC, only 9 have went to East Down. Hard to argue with that. But hopefully somebody will icantshoot (Down) - Posts: 64 - 22/09/2009 22:47:10 433814 Link 0 |
icantshoot makes a good point but you we shoouldnt be discussing sout or east. how do we expect the senior panel to win anything if the whole county gets divided in to because a thread by someone. its like berlin during the cold war lol mourne_man (Down) - Posts: 35 - 23/09/2009 11:19:13 434118 Link 0 |
Of the last thirty Four south down teams and four east down teams have won the senior championship. maybe the dominance of a couple of south down clubs puts the blinkers on all the others and gives you stations above yourselves auld_big_nose (Down) - Posts: 3 - 23/09/2009 11:21:47 434119 Link 0 |
I'm from east down. The fact is south down has been more successful. It may be the same number of clubs but the fact that the south down teams retain the trophy or repeat their wins is evidence of superiority. But yes, the rivalry in terms of within a senior squad is pointless, it's good craic at underage level though in the big games bewtween big clubs icantshoot (Down) - Posts: 64 - 23/09/2009 19:02:55 434643 Link 0 |
South Down arrogance is mainly why there is any sort of rivalry! Us East Downians are a humble folk imnotreal (Down) - Posts: 32 - 23/09/2009 19:18:37 434659 Link 0 |
yes when i played underage football i always loved to meet an east down team. the playings styles can be completly different sometimes or completly the same which made it hard contest either way. this thread is meant for underage i think mourne_man (Down) - Posts: 35 - 23/09/2009 20:57:18 434731 Link 0 |
3 senior county finals have now been played. 1 east down winner, 2 south down winners. majority rules which is 66.666667% in favour of south down newryview (Down) - Posts: 748 - 12/10/2009 09:46:27 451581 Link 0 |
