From following Laois football over the last few years I think John O Loughlin is by far Laois' best option in the middle of the park. Not only is has he the strength of a bull but he is an extremely gifted footballer. He has 2 feet and has a serious field of a ball. I'm from Cavan and I only wished we had someone as good as the young lad. He reminds me of a young Dermot McCabe. Whetehr ya's like it or not he's the man who will be carrying the can for Laois for at midfield for the next 10 years.

Lads you have an abundance of good midfielders in Laois, Clancey, Quigley, John O Loughlin and Kevin Meeney to name but a few, dont think that will be a problem area for ye. We are in a bit of bother in this area now with Earley out until mid summer at least and Flynn hit with a six month ban, although I expect this to be reduced to 3 months

I really believe it is imperative Laois partner Begley and Meaney at mid field with Quigley full forward . Begley is a super player with an amazing engine . He showed in championship v Graham Reilly last year though that he is too loose as a defender . But was mid field for Ireland in international rules and was player of the series .

In my opinion, O Loughlin and Begley would be a good pair. O Loughlin has the strength and Begley has the mobility. Most importantly, they are both good distributors of the ball. That's the bit of Meaney's game that is crucially missing.

Good to hear that Pauric Clancy has thrown in his lot for next year. I still feel he is as important as ever, I just hope he is played in midfield as opposed to full forward next year!

Clancy & Begley would get my vote for midfield. You need about 4 top-class midfielders anyway as no single pairing will dominate midfield for 70mins imo.

Be good to have Clancy, O'Loughlin, Meaney and Quigley who can operate around the middle.
I hear the squad are putting in a massive effort in their training programmes. A new player from O'Dempsey's club, Micheál Finlay, is showing up very well. Other names that are standing out in training include Colm Parkinson, Donagher, Begley and Ross Munnelly.
