Best midfielder in county

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Lads this is a crucial area and every successfull team is strong here,
We are not,
IMO Clancy and Quigley are by far the best footballing midfielders but cannot play together as you need a mucker to play with them.

Any suggestions for this area?
Darren Rooney as a holding midfielder or is he to slow?
Emmett Malone Barrowhouse ?

Emmet malone is a good option but I would go with Quiggers there as the no1, who would partner him though? Clancy has been hot and cold this year, Meeney Im not convinced, Noel could still do a job there, Rooney is a defender, and a very good one at that so I wouldnt even try him there. What about Tom Kelly? Very mobile player, would cover a lot of ground. I would go with Quiggers and Johnno, they would be a match for anyone.

Tom kelly is to small for midfield

Play Tom centre forward as he bet for playing in the backs

John Chandler Mountmelick?I have never seen him cleaned out of it by anyone/

P. s have you seen Tim Coleman about lately, he has been very quiet

The best midfield in the county are the two that play with ballyroan its the only place they were any good this year.

Would definitley have quigley in midfield.think kevin meaney has good potential.Would agree that Tom Kelly is to small for midfield.at the same time though we do need some-one to pick up breakin ball and Id like to see kelly and quigley given a chance too see how they work together.

Donie Kingston had a powerful game at midfield for Arles-Killeen the other night. Could turn into one of the country's best over the next ten years if he got a run of games there? What do ye think lads?

I thought Kingston was very poor at midfield, he caught very little ball and most of his jumps were mis-timed.
He is one of the best full forwards in the county and Killeen are wasting his talents by playing him in midfield.
I know they are under pressure to find a midfielder but Kingston is not one...

I think you must have been watching a very different game to me. Kingston lorded midfield (with help from Eamon Mahon) and Arles probably would have lost if he was played at full-forward. He caught and broke most of the kickouts and more or less denied Emo most of the quality kickout possesion on offer.

Donie wasn't too bad the other night but i think he is not mobile enough for midfield. For him to develop i feel he needs to be placed in the full forward line.

lads wat about Lowry from killeshin. Big powerful man, great carrier and excellent fielder. Fitness is in doubt alright but I've seen him play a few times and he was impressive.

SANNY ,I agree Donie aint a midfielder but then again I dont think he is fit enough for midfield at the moment.

Donal Miller is back. Good option in this position.
I actually hear there's five Annanough players on the training panel. Surprising.

Whats surprising about this?

Management havent a clue,

Why not bring back the Great Mick Lawlor then, miller must be well into his 30s now?

My point is, this man should have got a chance when he was in his 20s not when he is at the back end of his career which is rather baffling .

Ah no, Donal's no more than 28/29.
I agree that he should have been given more chances over the last 6/7 years.

As regards it being surprising that there's five Annanough players on the Laois squad, it's just that I saw Annanough a few times this year and I didn't honestly think they had that many players of that standard. Nothing at all against them as a club.

Donal was annonymous against St Mammans. Surely his chance to shine ? Saw annanough twice this year and couldn't pick one up to county standard and they have five ? WOW !

Totally agree with you about John O Loughlin's talent. As regards the best midfielder Clancy is still our no.1, Kevin Meeney is an incredible fielder and improving every week,

completely disagree with John o loughlin in midfield, he is a defender, very random selection i think
