Transfer talk

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Think the Penrose rumour may be garthering
some pace lately.
A lot of men on about it.
As RuaHughOneill says, there are men
travelling from Belfast to go to training
on a Tuesday night.
Travelling across county should be no problem.

I can't see Penrose leaving Aghyaran, His father was/is a great clubman, player and servant and would be a shame if he moved to Carrickmore who have a wealth of people to choose from, Why they don't have a thirds team in Div 3 like Errigal is beyond me. Different if a lad moves from another county like Mckeever to Carrickmore where he married and settled there, which is similar to the former Fermanagh player Coyle who had a short stint with Loughmacrory a few years ago but can't say I could stand up and support the likes Dinky's transfer to Carrickmore or Terry McKenna's to Killyclogher a few years back. Although McKenna did return to play for Beragh after achieving success, It was a hollow achievment in my opinion

Mugys Barber - Where are you from - Cookstown I presume.

Cookstown have had a few incoming players in their time as well. Mind you, none have brought any sucess for it to feel hollow to you.

Not from Cookstown boss, My club is all homegrown stock. The only player of worth we lost was Tyrone Tom to Channel 4 a good number of years ago now. Naw we're as pure as the driven snow in our parts, very parochial and wary of outsiders.

Scully is a lad that recently moved to Eskra from Down and used to play full back for the county!
Going to be a great asset to Eskra.....

How in the name of Peter has Adrian Scullion finished up at Eskra? Has he married into the parish or what?

Is there any link between minor and u21s county players success, in relation to club football. i know one fella who started for tyrone minors in 2007, but isnt even in his clubs championship squad!!! unheard of in my county

I am good friends with the penrose family and as a previous statement that was said his dad is a big aghyaran man and i would very much doubt that he would move yes his wife is from carmen but he has been travelling from there for last few years and things i cant see changing.

I can't see Marty playing against Aghyarn. His Dad is heavily involved in the club, I remember the two of them playing in the intermediate together not that long ago, and he's not married btw

Carrickmore could do with a boy like Marty Penrose. I have no problem with lads who want to transfer clubs. Fallouts can happen or players may want to better themselves like big Terry McKenna with Cappagh. He wasn't going to win anything with Beragh. Leon McKee to Derrylaughan from Brocagh another one that worked a treat. Aidan lynch should ahve joined Aghyaran ages ago, likewise Declan McCrossan to Clan na Gael. It's a wonder other players from smaller teams don't do it to get success or to get to play senior football. It maybe should happen that good players go from say the Rock to Pomeroy, Greencastle to Gortin or Aghaloo to Errigal etc etc. The smaller clubs could act as feeder clubs to the big teams. Its definitely worth looking at.

Cant see Penrose coming to play for Carrickmore - Aghayarn is an hour or so from Carmen, we have men travelling 4 hours round trip maybe couples of times a week to trainning...id say penrose could manage carmen to aghayarn two nights a week, anyway who knows if he'll be living permanently in Carrickmore.

I agree with the suggestion that there should be a 3rd's team in Carmen...alot of lads not getting any football and are getting frustrated....and with rumours about lads from other clubs coming to play for carmen - doesnt help the morale of lads who from carmen who dont get to play.

By the way Cathal McKeever doesnt play with or live in Carrickmore anymore - just for the record.

Its bad enough to see transfers from within the county
but to maybe look at transfering to your neighbours,
hardly a sensible option.
Should stay with their own, they eventually have
to go back to their own before they are finished anyway.
Rock to Pomeroy, yea right.
Greencastle to the BIGGER Gortin club, no chance,
Aghaloo to Errigal, not much point in winning that league crown was there.

Has Cathal McKeever left Carmen. If so, when did this happen. I saw him playing for them in the league earlier this year.

maybe all the donaghmore players should play at county level before they pass comment on young donaghy
maybe donaghmore should stop looking after the hetheringtons and falloons

Young Enterprise Damian McCaul is regarded as one of the best footballers in Donaghmore and has been for some time now. His brother Sean is the senior captain so how is this not giving them credit?? Regarding the Donagheys - Eoin is regarded as one of the clubs best prospects and is currently playing great football for the minor team - whom I might add are on course for the double. Aidan is a good footballer but he will find it difficult getting 1st team football with Donaghmore.
