Great appointment. Paddyo, once again your judgement is very wide of the mark Joe Kernan has a great track record . I saw most of their championship games in '02 and they won a fine championship playing very good football. You are digging a deep hole for yourself and it's time to stop. Galway both last year and this year played the beautiful game and lost. No point in doing that. The All-Ireland final of '01 is the last championship game Galway won in Croke Park. It's time that changed. There is no guarantee of success with Joe Kernan, however I do think that Galway football has every reason to be optimistic should the man take over. Now where is Mikeyjohn? Has he gone in to hiding or is he in mourning. Oh Mikeyjohn, where are you? Greengrass (Louth) - Posts: 6181 - 01/09/2009 20:31:32 412274 Link 0 |

joe konws what he wants but will the galway players also want what joe wants them to do it failed in the hurling and if this fails there be another big fall out in galway , i would liked to have seen val daly get the job he done a lot of the shovel work for o mahoney hipster (Dublin) - Posts: 2509 - 01/09/2009 21:46:45 412393 Link 0 |
Like I said on another thread, if he comes in and tries to change Galway football radically, it will all end in tears and more Connacht medals in Mayo. I f he comes in a simply puts some organisation on things, Galway could be real contenders. I think Joes achievements pale in comparison to Micky Hartes anyway. roundball (Tipperary) - Posts: 2514 - 01/09/2009 21:58:06 412414 Link 0 |

kernan wil b a fantastic appointment. an outsider - xactly what is needed in galway. lack of discipline was a huge factor 4 galway this year + the "northern influence " will not stand for that or the politics that is usually associated with galway football. there is no denying that galway failed 2 reach their potential this year, that was truely evident during the donegal game. they failed to function as a team and paid the price for it. many commentators referred 2 the demeanor of the galway team when arriving 4 that donegal game... beaten b4 they even got off the team bus. here's hoping that tis marks a new era in galway football. eoinp79 (Mayo) - Posts: 4 - 02/09/2009 01:20:14 412624 Link 0 |
Big sacks Mickey Moran tried to introduce that negative cynical football. We didnt want it, thats why he was sacked as manager. It is a real pity about Galway though. I hope they come to their sense's and get a Galway born and bred manager. This reliance on other counties for there management is a real concern. why not persue Kevin Walsh? who at least is in tune with Galway football. If people think its a wind up there is a simple solution. dont read it. Its not that hard paddyogall (Mayo) - Posts: 5110 - 02/09/2009 08:27:46 412683 Link 0 |

Against a Dublin team who bottled it, Mickey Moran was also in charge when we got our first ever hammering in an All Ireland final, The scars have still not faded. Mickey Morans legacy will forever reasonate through out Mayo football Breffni40 (Cavan) - Posts: 12378 - 02/09/2009 12:48:57 412984 Link 0 |
Galway didnt play good football this year. Why would they not get a Northern manager and win a few games ugly. I mean they were useless against both Sligo and Donegal. They scored 1-13 against Sligo and 13 points against Donegal playing your so called good traditional style football. Kildare on the other hand under Kernans right hand man Grimley and of course fellow Armagh man McGeeney played in two of the best games of the year, playing as good a brand of football seen this year and averaging around 20 points a game. Your argument has actually just gone out the window hasnt it! sammaguire09 (Kildare) - Posts: 101 - 02/09/2009 13:00:22 413003 Link 0 |
