Well it was good knowing you Galway football, often we looked across the Border with an envious eye, You played some great football and were a credit to the GAA, Brilliant Players like Michael Donellan, Paraic Joyce and Joe Salmon but now your selling your soul and bringing in the Northern style of Play. It was nice knowing you Galway football hopefully some day we will meet again

Kernan will be a great appointment. He will bring a professionalism that was lacking this year. Galwway were shocking against Donegal and didnt play like a team. Kernan will instill a tight knit group mentality and a bit of steel. They will be a much tougher proposition next year. Armagh palyed some good football in their time too. You dont win an all-ireland on defense minded play alone. I wonder will be bring his own back room team or will there be a couple of Galway men as selectors

This is why Mayo havent won an All Ireland. They have failed to evolve.

Galway looked good at start of the year but failed to impress in the rest of the season no disrespect but i think with kernan being appointed he would be bring something different to the team and do a decent job there...

Absolutely brilliant appointment for Galway. The footballers are there of that there is no doubt, maybe a bit more steel and less fancy dan/purist football might be the order of the day. PaddyO, I suggest that this appointment will have an added bonus for you in that your encyclopedic knowledge of the geography of Ireland will be handy in the qualifiers next year and for a few after this

Kiernan will be a great appointment for Galway. If this is confirmed, Galway will be a contender for an All Ireland over the next couple of years.

Armagh under Kiernan were tough, but also had some great flair players who could get goals and kick points, Oisin McConville and Stephen McDonnell to name just two.

Also, we took the Armagh captain as our manager, and McGeeney has Kildare playing the best and most positive football that I have ever seen us play. This, despite, people saying the same about us as they are now saying about Galway.

At the end of the Day Armagh had some fantastic footballers that were held back by the tactics employed by Joe Kernan. In Fact i firmly beleive that Armagh had better players then Tyrone this decade and should of won more All Irelands. There is no denying that Joe Kernan used defensive tactics

I agree Paddy. Looks like the days when Mayo vs Galway was a game of true skill wonderous to watch is gone. It will be reduced to a slogging match. Hopefully Mayo wont follow suit.

Bottom line If Kernan had been in charge this year they wouldn't have conceded the last minute point to MAyo and that could have changed their whole season

Galway have been very average over the last few years. Does appointing kernan make them all ireland contenders? If it does then surely armagh must have also been a very average team. I mean at the end of the day, wasnt that the whole reason why they played like they did? i.e. we cant match the football so we'l play anti-football...

Id imagine galway will be more like kildare. Tough but still a skillful side.
