A revisionist at work. This Tyrone team would hammer any great Ulster side that has come before. If you think that these boys from the past having a fag at half time would even come near competing with Tyrone or any other modern team for that matter you are seriously deluded. seanie_boy (Tyrone) - Posts: 4235 - 02/09/2009 09:11:12 412704 Link 0 |

DoireDownUnder you basically agree with me but decide to have a little dig at the same time?I did say Tyrone or any other modern era team.As a Derry person you believe that football started in 1993 then,is that your logic? seanie_boy (Tyrone) - Posts: 4235 - 02/09/2009 17:08:03 413350 Link 0 |

Patrique, run me by this perpetual winner thing again. You may just have been born the last time you won an Ulster Senior football trophy. You seem to hold on to the fact that youse can hurl a bit better than the rest of us in hurling, but at the big stage just not good enough. As for the clubs, I'm not sure but I would suggest that Armagh would have the shout on successful club teams omaghredhand (Tyrone) - Posts: 3656 - 02/09/2009 19:52:57 413572 Link 0 |
Patrique going on your logic of Ulster's best teams are you taking into account the clubs? That would surely put Derry ahead of Antrim??? DoireCK (Derry) - Posts: 162 - 02/09/2009 20:03:55 413589 Link 0 |
down and cavan defo the top two the fact that they had no backdoor to relay on meant the games in each province would have been alot harder! teams now no they can get a second chance an dont push themselves i believe! without the backdoor would we all be talking about tyrone?? no id say we would be talking about armagh more than tyrone! dj27legend (Down) - Posts: 641 - 02/09/2009 20:17:12 413615 Link 0 |
Well DJ you sort of contradicted yourself in your last 2 sentences omaghredhand (Tyrone) - Posts: 3656 - 02/09/2009 20:30:08 413633 Link 0 |
I concur most wholeheartedly.Everything must be seen in perspective. seanie_boy (Tyrone) - Posts: 4235 - 02/09/2009 20:45:39 413652 Link 0 |
In matters GAA on the club scene Antrim are still well ahead of any other Ulster county. patrique (Antrim) - Posts: 13709 - 02/09/2009 21:32:25 413731 Link 0 |

Rio, I suspect you are right. And unless they start to get real competition in the county, they will start to struggle at provincial level, as illustrated by Antrim hurlers outside Ulster. patrique (Antrim) - Posts: 13709 - 03/09/2009 22:10:28 414922 Link 0 |
i always thought the derry and down teams of the 90s were great i think derry would have won more AIs if there was a back door and donegal were great they really put the work in to win their AI but i always say the antrim team that contested the AI against tip has to be the best to get to an AI final in hurling for them is like ireland getting to a world cup final they must have been one of the most committed teams ever in the gaa hipster (Dublin) - Posts: 2509 - 03/09/2009 22:24:41 414935 Link 0 |
