Most the shots were hit at him in fairness yet some terrific saves fully deserving of the man of the match.

Although I am not fluent in Irish but did Micheál ó Sé mention something about Michael Schlingermann's father being from Germany.

That's 2 outstanding goalkeeping displays in the last 2 weeks at minor level. I thought the Kerry goalie last week was superb. The "German Lad" as Jack Charlton would call him, played very well, his first save was good because the ball took a deflection and while the save was routine he made sure the rebound was pushed away from the danger area. However the best save of the match was made by the Down keeper but Mayo goaled from the resulting action. Nice touch by the Down manager to give his sub keeper a few minutes game time, shades of last years Hurling Final!

As far as I know both of his parents are from Germany. He's also on the books of Sligo Rovers.

I thought the deflected save was top drawer stuff... definitely one of the best of the year. Some of the ones 'kicked at him' were as much to do with good positioning and standing up to make the saves, not as easy as he made them look. It's likely (unfortunately for Mayo football) that he's going to be on a number of scouting lists and that display yesterday will have raised his profile a bit further.

Second German to play in All Ireland minor semis this year. Max Thieman of Kerry the other.

Second German???Ah come on now,can anyone see the coincidence? The Germans are infiltrating us 70 years after WW2-must be the reccesion. It was only a matter of time.If we get to the World cup now we will not be beaten on penalty's,now where did I leave my Lederhosen?

It was an excellent performance to be fair. Best of luck to Mayo in the final too.
I noticed the name being unusual and indeed Kerry's Max Thiemann.
In 2006 Roscommons minor keeper Mark Miley kept a clean sheet throughout the entire campaign including games against Galway, Mayo, Tipperary, Meath and Kerry twice.

Anyway, I hope Mayo do it this year. Ray Dempsey deserves it for the effort he's put in and the heartbreak of last year.
