"I personally hope Kerry get beaten"..............

Speak for yourself there Co Tyrone, i want Kerry to win the AI and i'm from Mayo

OK 51longago sorry about that.
So it's 31 counties less one Mayo supporter who will be in HQ tomorrow to support the Mayo minors and Kerry to the All Ireland. Is that OK now 51longago?

A boring Kerry love in. They will beat Meath by 6 and Cork by 10 and the Southern partitionists will be delighted. Meanwhile Gaelic football will suffer as the only team that can beat them, Tyrone, is no longer there. ANOTHER tainted and meaningless title for Kerry. The Gooch and his friends might have a few All Irelands but in their heart, and players know best, they realise that they didn't do it when it mattered against Tyrone and their titles are flawed. Like Tipperary's win against Antrim in 1989 AND Kerry's in 2006 and 2007, they will be worthless. Kerry, Spillane, O'Connor and the rest of the Kerry tribe KNOW that, they KNOW it. That's what makes them mad. They wanted to do to Tyrone what Cork did and won't have the chance. Most of this Kerry squad would give up their 4 or 5 meaningless titles for one worthy win against the team of the decade TYRONE.

Its very sad that his comments have overshadowed his entry into the hall of fame, there are three pages of posts here discussing what he said rather than this great achievement and honour. He was a truely fantastic player and deserves any awards he gets. Congratulations Frank.

Well I have been missing for the past few weeks. had a spell in hospital but ok now. Wasnt able to access hs but tonight I glanced back through some posts. Well with Gooch out I am not expecting an easy Kerry victory, I would take any win as Meath will provide tough opposition. Saw the comments re the Rugby TV channel and I totally agree. Even tonights nine o clock news spent some time on a rugby match of no great significance and did not even bother to give the Irish soccer results. As for Frank McGuigan I put his comments down to disappointment after last Sunday's result. This Cork team are going to be hard to beat whoever they meet in final. They have great strength in all departments.Hope for a great game tomorrow and if Meath win well fairplay but I am hoping that Kerry reach the six in row final, which was not achieved previously.Wont make it but will turn down sound when Spillane and Brolly are doing their playacting.

Dear lord, what have we here, too many to mention that i am replayin to.So for a start, one man asks me, why not Cork or meath instead of Kerry, that i want to see win it,i just love Kerry football from a purist point of view and i have a gra for the county itself, have always got on well with Kerry bucks, i don't know why i have to explain myself but i am, when you work in places like london you will find Mayo/Galway/Kerry lads seem to always be along togethere.Next dispute was some buck said it was ridiculous to say spillane will have more AI medals than tyrone will ever, maybe "ever" is a silly word, how about i would bet Spillane will die with more AI medals, so and you are wrong to call him a presenter he is there as an anaylist this year.Last but certainly not least, we have this Aintrim buck spouting rubbish trying to rise a reaction off people, but i doubt any of the cute ***** brigade will react to such drivel,to swap 4 celtic cross to just of beaten tyrone once, will ya get up out of that, of course Kerry would love to beat tyrone, but its not the end of the world,i;m sure they will get their chance, for my 1000000000000 time saying this KERRY= 4(poss 5) Tyrone= 3............ END OF DEBATE KERRY THE UNDISPUTED KINGS OF GAELIC FOOTBALL, and team of the decade.

What gives Frank McGuigan the belief that he's entitled to an opinion on this matter? As usual he wades in no matter what.

Frank McGuigan is going to get his wish because take if from me Cork will give kerry the biggest hammering they have ever got in an All Ireland Final.

Cork 4-17
Kerry 0-6

Jameshoran - I hope your right, I'd take a win, a hammering of kerry would be a bonus!

I dont understand how people can give out about spillane and agree with mcguigan at the same time... They effectively have done the exact same thing...

51longago thanks for answering all our questions. You are such a generous fella.Personally I thik you are actually a Kerry man yourself but want to come across as some impartial lover of the 'traditional style' that you all keep harping on about. Now I would be even more grateful if you could tell me one more thing. Is that the traditional, boring, scrappy unexciting division 3 reserve club football on show today or the pulsating, orgasmic(thanks Pat),tenacious and heart wrenching stuff we saw in 2005 and 2008 final?

Woops- Not quite sure that 'Tyrone fell badly short this year' as you put it. Losing to Cork in an AI Semi-Final by 5 points is no shame. Kerry lost to Cork by 7/8 points in a replay earlier this year as i recall. If the same happens in the final, will you be saying that Kerry really did 'fall badly short this year?' Unlikely.

And yes, I have not forgotten that we in Donegal lost to Cork by a cricket score, but i would not say that we fell badly short this year. Badly short that day maybe, yes.

Tyrone are Ulster champions, hardly a disasterous year. Perspective needed mate.. Kerry have no C/ship glory yet this year. Hope it's a classic final, I really do!

to ulsterman who posted this - no such thing as a meaningless all ireland - you must have a dozen or so medals. most players couldnt care less if they beat kerry, tyrone or leitrim in the final. the best team always wins

I think that people are overlooking Brolly's role in all of this. He has said some stupid things and obviously got under Spillane's skin. Spillane had two reasons to be wetting himself with excitement after the Dublin game....1) Kerry hammered a team that he despises and 2) That result underlined his county's superiority over another team that he despises, Tyrone. It also gave him a chance to have a crack at Brolly who was setting himself up for a fall, as usual, by trying to overstate the quality of Ulster football.

In summary both Brolly and Spillane are muppets. I have to say that Spillane's outburst and previous comments about Dublin have turned me against Kerry and while I did want to see them beating Meath, I will be hoping that Cork hammer them in the final, again only to put Spillane in his place.
