"I personally hope Kerry get beaten"..............

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

says Tyrone legend Frank McGuigan.

"If Meath get to the final, I don't care who wins it. If Kerry win it I hope Cork hammer them" also;

"I would love to see Cork beating Kerry in the final - stuffing them" also;

"I remember one time Pat (Spillane) said when Tyrone weren't winning All-Irelands that we should send a busload of women down to Kerry and it would sort them out. I can tell Pat, this decade they should have been sending their women up to Tyrone. And there's a few guys on the loose."

I personally believe that Frank McGuigan has let himself down with this outburst.

Responding to Spillane in this manner is IMO a sure sign that Spillane has once again hit a nerve or two amoungst the Tyrone and Northern GAA people.

Not really, simply reflects the current opinion of most ulster gaels after spillane's infantile outburst. I personally have no axe to grind with kerry, in fact i have nothing but respect for Kerry and Cork people as they usually backed us to the hilt when times were hard.

Let this be the end of it:

Pat Spillane doesn't speak for the whole population of County Kerry.

Frank McGuigan doesn't speak for the whole population of County Tyrone.

Tyrone have been sending bus loads of women down to games in Dublin for the last number of years.
I fear for Tyrone football in about 15 years time!!!

very disappointed with Frank McGuigan's outburst - always admired him as a player but he has gone down in my opinion with his cheap shots at Kerry.

Agree with ya squid, I dont think he showed himself to well.
I know he's entitled to his opinion, & plenty of people say the same sorta stuff on here, but he is more in the public domain there & could have said it a little better.

I would say that in the main that is true 3inrow08 however,I would also say that many people in both counties endorse the actions of both Spillane and McGuigan indeed many would fully support the utterances of both these "gentlemen" also.

Pat Spillane is a legend and always will be.Why is the GAA so conservative? One off the cuff comment or showing your true emotion and it's hell for leather up on their do gooder soap boxes talking self righteous b/s.I am from Mayo, but was personally delighted to see Cork beat Tyrone,absolutley estatic to put to bed the team of the decade nonsense, does that make me not within the Gaa code, so bloody be it and a lot belonging to me was delighted as well and we are Gaa daft family.Spillane showed his true emotions and fair play to him, as for mcguigan i read that this morning in the paper and the same sentiments i give to him fair play he told it how he felt it.Move over with this hide your feelings carry on, it is so old Ireland.Tell it how it is, i cannot stand Roscommon and will never hide it.

Ok i honestly, genuinely don't know what was wrong with my first post but basically i think Frank McGuigan was very silly to bite Spillanes bait the way he did. Spillane loves to cause controversy and McGuigans words will just be music to his ears, ok ill say no more.

Its just a phase of jealousy that these people are going through and they are playing tit for tat here like young children, They are just as bad as eachother. Good luck to all teams this year and may the best one win :)

Spot on 3inarow. You can take as much or as little notice of individuals as you like or what suits you or supports a point. Strange to see WUMs appearing in the national media tho.

In fairness there were other usable quotes from the same article

on team of the decade
"I'n never one for teams of the decade or teams of this or that, Why make it a decade? Why not call it a lifetime? I don't believe in that at all, but Pat's obviously making an issue of it."

On hoping Kerry are beat
"For obvious reasons, Spillane being one of them. Nothing against Kerry players. There's this Kerry thinking that they have a hoodoo on all these teams and that they are the supreme artists of gaelic football. I know they have so many All-Irelands and they're good players, but spillane has really rattled peoples cages"

On John Miskella
"Brian wouldn't want to see him missing an All-Ireland final over him. He definately says it was only minor"

So the statements look a lot different in their proper context, and on the last point, don't forget, Brian McGuigan is still in real danger of losing his eye sight, a blow to the head could cause this, so I think that last point shows a bit more graciousness than what Frank is being given credit for.

I was the person who instigated the thread and to be honest how on earth anybdy can claim that they would love to see another team "stuffed" or "hammered" and then come on and say that they have nothing against the players of that team.
