I have to agre with your point but it works both ways just like all them mayo boys believe they can win. sure beating the champions is a step up for us. any thing is possible. from what i saw in london Sligo look hungry and will fight tooth and nail to keep the connaught title. good sligo support out there. looking forward to the game now after seeing sligo's form and intention... hope i see you all on the 23rd
My only comment is that Mayo always have had plenty of talent but have never shown the kind of spirit to go all the way. Sligo showed great spirit last year to get a connaght title. There is no dobt Mayo have won many Connaght titles and will win more but it is a big county and has a huge GAA following, in fact for the following they have they should have more all irelands. Just like Sligo had to get the 1975 monkey off their back and win a connaght, Mayo have a complex about the all ireland and even teams with limited resources would not have colapsed like the Mayo teams of recent years in an all ireland final. This is not a dig and I would always support any connaght team once Sligo are out. Sligo will have it all to do in Castlebar but the reason I believe Sligo can beat Mayo this year is because they heve the potential to pull together and play above themselve where as Mayo are the hot favorites and have shown the annual ability of playing below their potential
We believe it will be a tough test. Run close. I can say I'm very glad it's in Castlebar.

The idea was only originally for a few mates, most of whom weren't around for next Sunday. Hense the plans for the Conn Final. And it was outlined also, (IF WE'RE IN IT)!!
Is anybody really surprised by the result - I would have been disapointed by winning by less than 10 points but i will take the thirteen.
Sligonian Mayo and Galway are no great shakes this year!!!!! Well what kind of "shakes" does that mean that Sligo and Roscommon are in?? well Sligo can shake all they want in the Tommy Martin cup:o) Good luck to ya!!!!! I bet u must feel pretty gutted now with all you confident mood. We were afraid Trying to stop Sligo BELIEVING. What a joke beleive what u want mayo shouldn't effect you beliefs. believe that the shy is green, believe in the toothfairy and Santa Clause believe in the underdogs, believe in the greater good of Connaught football believe whatever you like! simpley put it make no differecne the gulf between mayo galway and the rest of teams in Connaught is great meaning that either mayo or galway can beat leitrim the mighty sligo or roscommon without playing well and to be honest i can only see the gulf between the two tiers getting bigger not that i care at least i can admit i don't care about the greater good of connaught football and improving the poor teams in the province when it comes to connaught football i only care about mayo and winning connaught titles maybe i was the only mayo person hoping Galway would win the Connaught title last year but i don't think i was.
Oh yes just to be clear I am well aware of the state and ability of the mayo team we are no world beaters thats for sure but at least we know that now if you had listened to me before the match when i told you that is was absurbd to think sligo would beat mayo at castlebar then you couldn't have been disappointed.
On a final note the person or persons that enivitably brought up the all ireland final big defeats by Kerry and used the word embaressed just like to say when i sat in Croke Park on those occassions as the game progressed i felt many emotions but never once was one of those embaressment - so what you lost to mayo in the Connaught Championship surprise surprise!!! there is no call to be embaressed of the team no player go out to lose games and can assure you that the sligo players didn't anyone who has played sport regardless of what sport can amdmit sometimes things don't go right on the day pick your self off and get on with things. The only thing to be embaressed of is coming on a GAA forum and saying your embaressed of your county team. Expect a little more from GAA fans.

Regarding to your last message, I agree whole heartedly, I never felt embarassment despite the huge loss and the performance. It is very hard to explain what went on but in some respects you can only feel pride from the way those boys, some of whom I have played with, picked themselves up. The same should be said for the Sligo lads. Give it a couple of weeks, let the emotions run and then make some consrtuctive analysis. Its tough but you have to front up and not just lambast the lads. Telling them your embarassed or ashamed is no way to pick yourselves up. Win the Tommy Murphy Cup, prove to everyone last week was a once off and that you are better than competing in a second tier all ireland. Best of luck.
