lads its time for change team managers need to put some serious silverware on the table to warrant 6 years in charge banty hasnt done that ? jailhouse.usa (Galway) - Posts: 1155 - 26/08/2009 02:40:48 404404 Link 0 |
OK. We have won no serious silverwear but surely you cannot deny that we have made progress under Banty. We are in division one, got to the division two final last year (probably beaten by All Ireland Championships) and won a division two title under Banty's reign. We had a disapppointing championship this year. We need to kick on from that now, but lets support the team - there is no advantage in opening up a debate that the Monaghan County Board have made the wrong decision wrt Banty. O. K. It is easy to agree that the banty has without doubt improved the fortunes of our county team in the past few years. But it is surely time for a change. Two ulster championship wins in 5 years is really poor. I know people talk about winning div 2 but get real people div 2 title was the equivelant of the now div 3 title. I believe he has had his time but I will be the first there to support him and the lads come mckenna cup time and hopefully being in division 1(the real division 1 not like 4 years ago) will have us battle hardened for a major assault on Ulster.. topman500 (Monaghan) - Posts: 294 - 26/08/2009 19:06:43 405325 Link 0 |
Ahhh the division 2 final, classic moment. Went mental. Adler (Monaghan) - Posts: 754 - 27/08/2009 15:18:05 406396 Link 0 |
lads no disrepect to banty but he needs to go players need to hear a new voice maybe the players are supporting him because they are worried they may get dropped by a new manager it sounds a little cosy to me anyway good luck to banty and the team next year jailhouse.usa (Galway) - Posts: 1155 - 29/08/2009 02:35:04 408371 Link 0 |

What a turn up for the books. I was shocked to hear that Banty was staying on. Tim_NicebutDim (Monaghan) - Posts: 347 - 02/09/2009 08:53:14 412690 Link 0 |
I hear the banty has pulled off a big coup and has got paul grimley on board for next year. mcelkennon staying on too. grimley was odds on for the armagh job. that explains why the decision was delayed until this week. the time was spent persuading grimley on board. mickduffy (Monaghan) - Posts: 29 - 02/09/2009 09:53:19 412729 Link 0 |
Best of luck to Banty in 2010. Usually in the long run luck balances itself out so Monaghan are due some favourable draws this year. After all his hard work bringing this Monaghan team on, it would be nice to see him rewarded with an Ulster title Maradonna (Meath) - Posts: 128 - 02/09/2009 10:31:27 412760 Link 0 |

Banty should have stepped down. What more can he get out of this team? Nothing.....its only going to go further down hill from here. A complete change is what the players would thrieve on. John_Rambo (Monaghan) - Posts: 1 - 03/09/2009 12:25:01 414213 Link 0 |
John Rambo, that comment you made was the most sense i have heard in weeks of this forum. New blood is what is needed. Although grimley could be a breath of freash air. trenchtown (Monaghan) - Posts: 7 - 03/09/2009 12:50:14 414252 Link 0 |
I have to say that I was on the fence regarding Seamus McEnaney's future. I was leaning towards a change, but unsure as to who might be the best replacement. NJMon50 (USA) - Posts: 30 - 03/09/2009 15:37:14 414462 Link 0 |
