Was at the trial in Ballykelly yesterday, some very good footballers on view, Kevin Connor, Glen Collins, Conor Plunkett, Adam Shaw, Fionn Dowling, Cian Farrell and John Lawlor. Think Lawlor scored 2-2 at corner forward, said it earlier on this tread I think that lad is good and he show it yesterday

i think john lawlor has benefited from moving to the school in athy, hes improved immensely as a player and fits in really well when playing in a good attacking game

In fairness johnnylips I'v been watching him since seeing him play against us in a u13 league semi final a few years back and again at minor the last few years he has always been a good player, I'd say Athy school were glad to get him would only improve their chances

A johnnylips can you not give credit where its due, he has been one of our best underage prospects for a last few years now, it didn't happen when he moved to Athy school, he was part of our Junior A and Jack Higgins winning panels off 2 years ago at 15 years of age and believe it or not he wasn't in Athy school at the time. Hope he makes it on to the minor panel cause from speaking to him I know he wants it.

Would agree joey, it will be a fair days work to get on that team this year but knowing the lad he will give it his best shot, if he makes it well and good if not it won't be from the lack off effort and that has to be admired. Aside from that I think it would be a mistake to allow the guys in pole position to think that all they have to do is turn up, its Dublin in the first round and pressure will have to be put on the established players to perform. If the management allow the perception that prevails here that the starting team is a done deal it will cause problems in the squad, and that won't be good, competition for places is what gives players the edge thats needed. I personally am looking forward to seeing that team play next year as we now have a second batch of good minors coming through, regardless of who does or does not make the team I think Kildare football in general is on an upward curve
