I was talking to a man from Celbridge during the weekend who has a lad at this age group and he told me that Leixlip were unlucky not to beat Naas in the Under 16 championship last year. So maybe Shergar is being a bit hard on Sexyface! Leixlip must have something to offer. He says that Naas scored a last minute goal to force a replay. Apparently the replay was close too until Naas scored another late goal. Then Athy took Naas to extra time in the semi final, and he thinks that Naas won that with another last minute goal. Moorefield had a good lead in the final, before being nailed with a couple of late goals. Does anyone know if that's true? It sounds mad.

next years celbridge minors were v. successful in the feile 4 years ago, reached the final if in correct but lost to a northern team. They had cian bolger back then who is now playing for leicster city and have lost a few other key players.

Shergar maynooth wont stand a chance in A, they have never condented a championship/ league at this age so what makes you think they will start now..........

If you go by last years under 16 championship i would say Naas, moorefield, athy and leixlip are the 4 to look out for, Naas were very lucky to beat athy in the semi final by getting 1-1 in the last minute of extra time and were also lucky to beat leixlip in a replay.. From this i think it has the ingredients to be once again a great championship...

i agree athy and naas are the teams to beat. however i still think clebridge will be there or there abouts as they, like athy, also had 12 players starting on this years minor team eligable for next year. if they keep the same manager as this years they should be definatly in with a shout.they seem to have gotten over losing the likes of bolger , daragh reynor and jean biansumba to soccer.
