Celtic and Arsenal

Sean OG...Seems to me that every time that a thread is started on Celtic, the english soccer lovers are on ridiculing both Celtic and the SPL. Personally i dont really bother with english football but i dont go onto every thread to criticize it, bizarre really.

Totally agree Sean. Irish folk scoff at SPL and start comparing to the EPL as if if they are English and its their league...Do they forget that their leagues are actually the LOI or IL ??

Final point re this never ending dispute as to how Celtic/Rangers would compete in EPL. They would do fine, they have the stadia and the fan base all they need is the money

Just like newcastle...

Was at the match myself, Arsenal were the better team but both goals were fortunate. Nil-nil would have been a fairer result. Ah well we'll just have to beat them 3-0 in London!!!

Tickets sorted and flights booked for next week, had to do some grovelling to her indoors to justify it, told her we should win 3-0, no probs....

bad.monkey .Newcastle are probably the stand out failure of a Club that was bought by an outside millionaire and things went pear shaped but if you have access to plenty of money to pay top wages you will attract the better players, and by the laws of all probabilities are more likely to be successful as a result. You will still get results like Burnley beating United last night and its these type of results that are keeping the game alive. However everybody knows at the end of the season United/Arsenal/Chelsea/Liverpool and probably this year Man. City will be occupying the top places, and the Burnley/Hull City/ Stoke/Birmingham and Wolves will be at the relegation end of the table. Its got nothing to do with location or anything else its all about money. How many English players did Arsenal field last Wed. night, answers on back of a minute match box please. If the European League comes the Old Firm will be wanted because of their huge international fan base. Its all about TV Audience and advertising. If th Old Firm have equal access to funding as United and Arsenal , they will become just as effective as them on the field of play.

First of all, Everton came 5th last season lads not sixth....and ye claim to be soccer fans! And more to the point, if ye seriously think a team with Boruc, Caldwell, Hinkel, McManus, McDonald, Donati, Naylor and Loovens would survive in the premiership.....ye are delusional!!
Some of ye seem to think Celtic would match Everton!!!!! Is that a joke...!! A team with Cahill, Yakubu, Jo, Arteta, Jagielka, Piennar, Saha, Yobo, Baines and managed by Davie "i have no interest in leaving everton to manage celtic" Moyes.....against the list of donkeys i mentioned earlier managed by Tony "relegated" Mowbray! Just cos you fill a bug stadium with 60,000 Barstool Republicans doesnt make them superior to teams like Everton, Villa or Spurs. Not even in the same league.

If I were you I would be more concerned with Everton staying in the league than slagging Celtic. After suffering the heaviest home defeat in 50 years, getting well and truly stuffed by Burnley, only fit centre half on his way out and Moyes gone as soon as a decent club come calling, I'd be concerned that making sure the local derby next year is against Liverpool and not Tranmere

tonorio, was that for me...?? I am a Liverpool Fan mate not an Everton Fan! But I am an open minded football fan and i can see the wood for the trees! You think Moyes would leave Everton for Celtic.....not a chance! Sure he could have this summer and actually laughed at the idea of it on SSN when it was suggested. Everton and Celtic are not operating on similar levels here lads, 4 half decent games a year does not make you a big club!

Your an open minded football fan? Yet you berate Celtic for no reason. Have Celtic ever asked to be admitted to the EPL? No. Of course when the question was put to the powers that be would they like it of course they would. When you see the like of Hull willing to spend 12mill on a striker and Stoke preparing a 12mill pound bid for Kenwyne Jones its hard to not be envious. And as a Liverpool fan surely you should be sympathetic to the plight of the smaller clubs because if the Yanks don't sell ye will be passed out by the like of City and Spurs. (although it looks like that has happened already)

That's what they call KARMA. Arsenal were the better side against Utd but were denied by some poor refereeing decisions and Rooney's dive for the penalty. Now the Gooners know how Celtic feel.

Ulsterman, I would be the first to admit that it was never a penalty, but there was contact. Almunia made the decision inevitable by diving in when there was no need for it. If he had come out and stayed on his feet then Rooney would have had no option but to stay on his feet. At the time Arsenal were certainly on the front foot, but I think that to suggest that they were the better team overall is fanciful. United had more possession, shots on goal etc. Arsenal can have no complaints either in relation to diving with Eboue certainly learning a thing or two from Eduardo in training

omaghred were you watching the same game i was? Man Yoo had one shot on target and scored twice. Arsenal were by far better. Arshavin was battered in the box by Fletcher and anyone that says otherwise is a liar.

Tonorio, the match stats show that United had 4 shots on target compared to Arsenal's 3, they both had 6 off target. Arshavin may have been fouled but bearing in mind that the Arsenal goal developed from the same passage of play the Arsenal would have been one up no matter what except that they may have missed the penalty. In my opinion I though that until the couple of minutes before Arsenal scored that United were the better team. After this Arsenal took over until Utds penalty. Once Utd went in front I thought they were comfortable until the last chance which was offside. Incidentally Tonorio, it cost me a few pound as I had a £20 treble of draws, Blackburn, Wolves and Utd. :( Would have had a couple of good All Ireland weekends with that

You are spot on omaghredhand.People put the blinkers on because they hate united.Almunia fouling Rooney was the clearest penalty I have seen in years, even Wenger said so and still they come on here with the anti-manu stuff.typical.Yes arshavin should have had a penalty but they scored from the same attack so it's kinda a moot point.Arsenal always look strong at this time of year,United don't tend to get goin for a while longer.
