395827 Orlaith, if you are in fact a 14 year old girl, i hope you dont get dragged into all the nationalist nonsense that's associated with "supporting" that scottish football club.
if you want to support them then by all means do and maybe even enjoy the football, but try not to let all the bigotry that accompanies them infest your young self.
if we can stop this kind of thinking, especially amongst the young, then maybe finally we can move on and live our lives nice and peacefully. Evangelist, a sweeping generalisation there in relation to Celtic supporters. I support Celtic, yes initially due to nationalist leanings however I quickly got over that. I think that a lot if you forget that Celtic are NOT a Catholic club. Rangers however are a Protestant club and have never made any attempt to hide this. I take it that you live in Longford? Wouldn't have thought that you would have much problem finding peace there.

Unlucky unlucky... " very lucky goals scored and Caldwell at fault both times! But that's what happens when you play in an FAI style league week in week out!! I thought the bhoys did alright considering.
Europa Cup is probably more in their line as long as they play in the SPL.

Ah now 32-4-1, I'm as Celtic as anyone but Arsenal showed mercy tonight. Yes the goals were not great but they were playing in second gear for most of the game. I fear for the 2nd leg as an Arsenal second string that is more than capable of beating from 8 down in the premiership will be out to impress.
The guys name is Pat McCourt signed from Derry City.

I kno its Pat McCourt, cant believe he playing at this stage - Frank McCourt is a famous author whoes probably a better player than Pat.. Meathman - Arsenal were miles the better team, just sat back and got their goals, job done. Celtic very poor with McGeady the only 1 who looked anywhere near premiership class.

So RLF,
Arsenal beat Everton 6 - 1 at Goodison on Saturday, what's Everton's excuse? They don't play in an FAI type league. The fact is that the top 4 teams in England are light years away from the rest so don't be disrespectful to Celtic. Arsenal are a class apart from Celtic but we had no luck whatsoever tonight. A deflected & own goal, a stonewall penalty that we should have got and 80% of the decisions went against us. Now run along and learn about the game and the teams that play it. Celtic would survive in the EPL and with the money would thrive. At least we still tried to play the game the right way.

at the end of the day arsenals goals didnt come from their good play, they came from luck (as all the english teams seem to get loads of in europe in recent seasons)

Arsenal did'nt need a goalkeeper in that game. I know very little about soccer but that game was one sided and also a bit boring with very little goalmouth action !!

mildred fair play for highlighting the oul messages (pity some others could show the same clarity) but that's where your clarity of thought ends!!
Celtic were more than a match and were unlucky. Although it's hard to make out what ulsterman is trying to say so I'll allow you that one ;-)

RLF & Mildred,
NO I don't think Celtic should have won tonight. However we were very unlucky with the goals and decisions and these things do matter after all. My point is that Celtic should NOT be patronised and told that they don't belong in Arsenal's company or the EPL because they beat us. Arsenal beat Everton 6 - 1 at Goodison on Saturday so does that mean that Everton, who finished 6th last season, should not be allowed to play in the EPL? Does that mean that every team who finished behind Everton should not be allowed to play Arsenal either? There is so much hypocrisy going on here. We competed quite well for 40 mins until the car crash that is Gary Caldwell resorted to type and gave away his usual stupid free kicks and own goals. We contributed to our own downfall without Arsenal having to do too much.

That's what I meant anyway. Celtic did well relative to their strengths. It's not just tonight I am judging them on but on several Euro encounters. They have failed to shine when it matters since O'Neill left.
I mean who knows what'll happen in the Emirates but when you don't get competitive matches against top teams and don't attract top players you can't expect to compete in the CL. Until then I believe that the Europa League is more in their line.
I never said that couldn't compete in the PL. But why should they even want to??? There are alternatives such as the other SPL teams getting their acts together or forming the Northern Euro League with Benelux and Scandanavian teams.

O'Neill never qualified for the CL last 16. Like him or loathe him Strachan qualified twice. The real blame for me lies with the Celtic board particularly Dermot Desmond and John Reid. In January we were 7 points clear but everyone could see we needed a striker and central midfielder to ensure we won the League. The board gambled, signed no one AND we gifted the title to a very poor, indeed rotten, awful Rangers team. Consequently we will lose out on the CL and the £15 million that comes with that. It was a bad business decision from the Celtic board which will have negative effects for a few years.

The thread is about a soccer game and not anything else. Why did you try drag it into arguement and have a go at Celtic.
Anyways back to the game. It thought Arsenal were the better team but having said that they got the luck. Celtic didn't offer enough in the final 3rd.
