great performance by carlow town today, better team won...the free taking of cian o brien was flawless, pehaps the difference between the two sides, and also his goal from play was nothing short of brilliance..Conor Lawlor was outstanding, nothing got past him....james doyle and alan mcdonald were the only 2 threats erins own posed on the day...Great to see two new teams in the final, for the sake of the county arrows85 (Carlow) - Posts: 202 - 04/10/2009 22:04:52 444807 Link 0 |
jayus yeah.. for us it will hopefully give the club a huge boost given our last couple of years of poor form at senior level. the lads are putting in a good effort and hopefully the ll carry it through to senior level.. it mite give some of the other lads a kick in the arse the need to get training! old yellar (None) - Posts: 2630 - 04/10/2009 22:22:11 444843 Link 0 |
Carlow winning by a few points sets them up nicely for the game with Ballinkillen, but will need to improve if all the report are true. O'Brien scoring most of their scores will not be good enough in final. Perhaps the others were tired after playing football on Friday and Thursday night? Also heard that Bagenalston had a lot of wides. Missing their 2 players not a help at this stage of the championship. carlowman (Carlow) - Posts: 1875 - 04/10/2009 23:02:50 444878 Link 0 |
Very disappointed for the lads today they were far off their best today. Never looked like wining today and missed some terrible chances. hurlingguru (Carlow) - Posts: 1838 - 04/10/2009 23:28:00 444902 Link 0 |

ha.. i predicted 50% of the participants!! think ballinkillen will do it myself. i know i m biased but think we ve a bit better balance to our team. if marty dalton hits form in the forwards, i dont think ctown have a man for him. saying that i think ctown will have the edge in the middle of the park physically and this could be a factor. either way, be a great boost to either club as we had our share of bad years of late. and saying that i know the carlow town lads and mentors and the are a nice bunch of lads, so best of luck, and lets hope for a good game.. which we win! old yellar (None) - Posts: 2630 - 06/10/2009 13:34:33 446261 Link 0 |
Just wanted to wish Carlow Town all the best in Sunday's final. I hope all supporters go to match and show support for both teams. No one would have thought at the start of the championship that either team would make the final and now that they have we should go and support them. Here's to a great final... Just to echo WHiskey there... best of luck to both teams in the final on Sunday. Should be a good game with some very good players on both teams. Hope the weather is kind and does not play a pivotal role in the outcome. carlowman (Carlow) - Posts: 1875 - 09/10/2009 16:56:57 449870 Link 0 |
yeah, exactly, hope it goes well for all the lads on both panels and its a good open game of hurling that will be a fitting end to a good championship. old yellar (None) - Posts: 2630 - 09/10/2009 19:05:42 450025 Link 0 |

well done to ballinkillen on our win in the minor today. an intense game but lacking a bit on quality. carlow town tried hard but didnt get the scores their play deserved when the had the ball. some great long range frees by english and a few nice maty dalton pts got us over the line.. on a side note, alan macdonald make a very influential cameo as asub for erins own in the senior, and he a minor agin next year.. old yellar (None) - Posts: 2630 - 11/10/2009 19:59:06 451290 Link 0 |
Congratulations to Balinkillen on their good and deserving win in the minor final. A strong defence and good accurate free taking brought them over the line Well done to all. Carlow can take heart from their performance with some good hard hurling but better use of the breeze was a factor. Well done again. A good win for a club that has worked hard to keep hurling alive and well in the parish. carlowman (Carlow) - Posts: 1875 - 12/10/2009 08:11:08 451544 Link 0 |
Wanted to send congrats to Ballinkillen on winning minor final. Carlow Town did not get out of the blocks. Thought Jamie Kenny should have got man of the match. Was outstanding in the backs. Moved him to late in the game to the forwards. Carlow Town also gave away to many free's. But well done to both teams. Nice to see new teams in the final. Good for hurling. Also well done to Eirn's Own, gave MLR a good match. Roll on football finals. Should be good finals too. Best of luck to both teams.. Ye JAmie Kenny was Outstanding. Niall Murphy from Balinkillen was also impressive. One player should have been banned for life following a stamping incident near the end of the game which the ref failed to deal with. No need for it whatsoever and wasn't a first time offence for the culprit arrows85 (Carlow) - Posts: 202 - 12/10/2009 17:30:47 452063 Link 0 |
yeah was in front of me alrite, bit liberal with the boot perhaps.. the game itself was poor enough in parts, no classic scores or mitey striking on either side.. for bkillen i thought dermot foley at wingback hit a lot of ball, david english was his usual steady self from play and frees, michael murphy and darren dalton got on a lot of ball. ctown battled hard with conor lawlor did an excellent job on marty, jamie kenny was tigerish as ever and john doyle worked hard. i think there forward line didnt do enough for them, missing a few good lads there from u16 2 years ago for some reason.. thought we deserved it though and we ve still a young team, most there for next year. old yellar (None) - Posts: 2630 - 12/10/2009 19:02:51 452172 Link 0 |
