Btown look a well balanced team and a very young team, had a great win over myshall though they were missin JM Nolan. Bkillen look good over the last few matches. In my opinion its a three horse race between btown myshall n bkillen. hurlingguru (Carlow) - Posts: 1838 - 17/08/2009 12:14:03 394298 Link 0 |
Was at a few matches this yr in this. Some v good games. Ballinkillen have a nice team with david english at 6 pullin the strings. Think only him and marty dalton gone for next year, so they young. Others like daryl roberts and michael & sean murphy were impressive. N brid and them had some game in it last friday. V intense and hard fought. They too looked good with 4/5 county minors and others like hugh gahan and peter shaw catching the eye. Dunno where that loss leaves them though. Rangers are weak at this grade this yr. this group always have been, but have fine players in paul coady, bolger and huff. Btown won the u16 2 years ago. Lot of good hurlers in james doyle, pat abbey, john corcoran, lambe, beaton and the mercurial mcdonald chap. Hard to beat them alrite.. Miseal arent too bad but maybe are dependant on jm nolan and adam kenny to drive them forward. Obviously ross smithers is a massive treat to all defenses and rem he is just 16.. Carlow town also have potential in players like john doyle and conor lawlor playing for the seniors this year - and doing well. Others like ciaran moran, brendan henessey, mcdonald, kenneally are good players too. St mullins have a nice team, little young, but good players in the fiery richard deegan, michael cantwell, seamus jordan, sean murphy and a couple of handy u16s also to make up the team.. a repeat of the u16 final is my prediction, btown v bkillen.. old yellar (None) - Posts: 2630 - 17/08/2009 23:25:24 395101 Link 0 |
david english is gone now with a broken wrist i think . That be a big blow to ballinkillen. Rangers are the only team gone out of this having got 0 points. The top 2 teams are in the semi-final and the remaining 4 play quater finals . drcullenpark (Carlow) - Posts: 17 - 18/08/2009 10:45:56 395334 Link 0 |
Ballinkillen are depending on 5 players TO CARRY THEM and their main 1 is now gone effectively...Naomh brid were narrowly defeated by them and perhaps a draw would have been the fairest result....however they had a very impressive 1-16 to 2-6 win over naomh eoin in myshall last night, scoring 1-12 from play and only conceding 1-2....NAomh eoin do not have any passengers they all hurl as a team, seen them 3 times this year...also seen erins own hammer ballinkillen who didnt have david english who i feel is the only way they can progress..i would safely say he is the best minor and senoir hurler in ballinkillen.... arrows85 (Carlow) - Posts: 202 - 18/08/2009 14:09:10 395628 Link 0 |
just in reply to drcullenpark david english has done ligaments in his shoulder and should be back in 2-3 week. jimmy123 (Carlow) - Posts: 14 - 18/08/2009 14:17:55 395642 Link 0 |

was at the bkillen/btown match also. bkillen conceeded some very soft goals in it. Saying that, btown are the team to beat.. Like i said, n brid looked like a nice team too. old yellar (None) - Posts: 2630 - 18/08/2009 19:48:46 396119 Link 0 |

jimmy 123,who is their best hurler?? MAybe andrew gaule would be of more experience but i think david slightly shades it 4m a neutral point of view....Carlow town are tippn away nicely too in this championship..going to be tight for the 2nd semi final place arrows85 (Carlow) - Posts: 202 - 19/08/2009 00:31:32 396577 Link 0 |
maybe another year r 2 he will b but i think the duke is the better hurler! if bkillen win one of there last 2 matchs the take 2nd place. jimmy123 (Carlow) - Posts: 14 - 19/08/2009 14:31:35 397082 Link 0 |
Are Erins Own on course for 1st place hurlingguru (Carlow) - Posts: 1838 - 19/08/2009 18:56:34 397470 Link 0 |
Shaping up to be a good tight championship with Bagenalstown and Naomh Brid looking good while Carlow Town and Balinkillen will also have a say in the placings. Myshall can never be discounted and could make a big surge. St. Mullins are a bit young. Balinkillen look the best so far. carlowman (Carlow) - Posts: 1875 - 20/08/2009 10:20:16 397918 Link 0 |
ye erins own are on full points 8 from 4 games,naomh brid are on 6 from 5 games,ballinkillen on 6 from four games,myshall on 5 from 5 games,carlow town on 5 from 4 games,st mullins on four from 5 games and rangers scoreless.. arrows85 (Carlow) - Posts: 202 - 20/08/2009 15:19:24 398276 Link 0 |
How can rangers be struggling to produce a minor team after all there success these past few years at underage level. I know for a fact they have 4 U15s and still cant make a team. hurlingguru (Carlow) - Posts: 1838 - 20/08/2009 16:20:38 398354 Link 0 |
You cannot plan the future demographics of an area unfortunately!! I think most country clubs have these kind of problems now and again. It cant be helped. just one of those things that go in cycles... Lucky_Strike (Carlow) - Posts: 5 - 20/08/2009 17:08:22 398419 Link 0 |
hulinguru, rangers are struggling due to the fact that thomas bolger, david o gorman and 1 or2 others wont hurl...also its a psychological factor,i recall them thrashing naomh brid in a minor league game in 2008 and only 1 player wasnt eligible to play this year(Brendan Bolger) because the county players were not allowd play at the time...the same thomas bolger scored 2-10 that day 2-5 from play and this year he wont hurl....what a pity arrows85 (Carlow) - Posts: 202 - 20/08/2009 17:12:41 398425 Link 0 |
that a pity cause he a fine player alrite. With our smaller pick we cannot afford to loose any hurler of this standard.. old yellar (None) - Posts: 2630 - 20/08/2009 21:52:55 398678 Link 0 |
sorry i didn't know they were mising players because they wouldn't play. hurlingguru (Carlow) - Posts: 1838 - 21/08/2009 09:53:48 398896 Link 0 |
I think it will be a Ballinkillen Eirns Own final. Eirns Own would be favourites but Ballinkillen have been knockin on the door the last few years and will be hard to beat. Its good thst we have a close competitive championship with three or four possible winners. I dont think David English would be Ballinkillens best plater yet at senior level YET although its only a matter of time. Id say the duke would still be the man there. After watchin the minor all Ireland semi finals the last two weeks id say he would walk onto all 4 teams and play well for them all. He is a super talent and a huge loss to our minors this year for whatever reasons. eire32 (Carlow) - Posts: 49 - 21/08/2009 17:55:16 399440 Link 0 |
A few refixtures in the coming week. Wednesday a interesting tie between Naomh Brid and Erins Own. Erins Own already through dont know how naomh brid are goin but I think its between them and St Mullins for fourth(but top 2 into semis and 3rd-6th into quarters). I think Erins Own will pull through and Ballinkillen V Carlow Town, I think Ballinkillen will win. Next Monday Erins Own V Carlow Town, Erins Own il say will win and then a very attracting match between Naomh Eoin and Ballinkillen whoever wins will more than likely take the 2nd semi final spot, Im going to give Ballinkillen the nod be a point or two. Anyone have any thoughts??????????????? hurlingguru (Carlow) - Posts: 1838 - 31/08/2009 23:13:23 410976 Link 0 |
