Smith scored in every games he played. Also got goals against Laois and Wicklow. And got points from play against Dublin and Tyrone. JPM1981 (Kildare) - Posts: 825 - 14/08/2009 11:14:45 391825 Link 0 |
The criteria for young player of the year is that it has to be your debut year in championship action and you have to be eligible for U21. That immediately rules out the likes of Murphy, Kerrigan and Alan Smyth who all have championship experience under their belts last year. I think David Bray is 24...he was a sub on the Meath U-21 team in 2006, I think you have to be U-21 for the award. Thunderstruck (Meath) - Posts: 478 - 14/08/2009 12:01:29 391893 Link 0 |

Going on that criteria Roger the field will be fairly narrow...can't think of many players who would qualify: maybe Colm O' Neill (Cork)? Thunderstruck (Meath) - Posts: 478 - 14/08/2009 12:05:11 391901 Link 0 |
I don't think you're correct Roger, Cathal Naughton was nominated for young hurler of the year last year, that was his third year with the Cork seniors. Sisco87 (Tipperary) - Posts: 759 - 14/08/2009 12:15:06 391919 Link 0 |
Ray Carey (Cork), might have played last year though! macattack (UK) - Posts: 584 - 14/08/2009 12:15:11 391920 Link 0 |

Rodger ur definately wrong. Sean Cavanagh won the award in 2003 and it was not his first season with Tyrone!! There are a number of players that could win this award from a tyrone point of view its a pity that none of the younger players were able to break into the side becasue we have some outstanding talent. I would vote for O'Shea think he is outstanding but from ulster point of View Paddy Cunningham or Micheal Murphy Tyrone Gaa (None) - Posts: 403 - 14/08/2009 12:36:10 391960 Link 0 |

Paddy Cunningham would get my vote. To captain an Antrim side into the Ulster final at 23 years of age is no mean achievement and to lead the way with the points tally. Simply superb. caughtredhanded (Tyrone) - Posts: 602 - 14/08/2009 13:55:11 392098 Link 0 |
regardless of the terms. would everyone agree that Micheal Murphy is a "young player" inniskeenbull (Monaghan) - Posts: 682 - 14/08/2009 13:59:58 392109 Link 0 |
Toss up between 2 players who exited at the qtr final stage in Football. Murphy: Donegal and O Shea: Mayo. Given the teams that Donegal put out along the way (Galway, Derry) I think it should go Murphys way. John Boss (Tyrone) - Posts: 865 - 14/08/2009 14:38:57 392177 Link 0 |

Noel McGrath. Another big performance might even see him nominated for senior player of the Year. Not bad for an 18 year old tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 14/08/2009 14:58:30 392221 Link 0 |
