Thanks spookycat and blockball.Ya your right it is all about the future but to put in a performance against our neighbours would be really the key on sunday.Ya i heard that he played very well against killala alright.E G have 2 diferent lads to go in full back it just really depends on the day whos picked.Also the midfield pairing for both E G and haunis will be very interesting.it is both here and in the full back line that the game will be won or lost for both sides.I hear young prenty may not be playing sunday as he tore his hamstring.Anyone hear?

E Gaels v Ballyhaunis has actually been changed to Friday 28th @ 7pm in Brickens due to the re-fixing of Ballyhaunis v Tooreen (hurling) on Sunday 23rd.

Spooky those golden oldies you mentioned were always overated. And im not sure if you are aware but J.Kelly is a ballyhaunis man who ended up playin for EG. Im sure he got a transfer!!!!!!!

dickybird, I replied earlier but it has not yet appeared so here we go again. You are entitled to your opinion that these lads are over rated ect ect ect. I can tell ya they were great servents to EG and always gave 100% but alas time stands still for no one and they moved on, Good to see you are busy posting on HS, this morning you only had 4 posts and now you have 12 , we all had to start some where. In relation to John Kelly, there were 2 men from the parish of Bally H that played for both EG and BH. I stand to be corrected but I think both were from the same village, Island I think. Anyway the first lad was an outfield player and went to school in Bekan. He played with EG up to U14 approx in 1986, he then moved to BH ,he was a big loss to EG as he was a good player with a great engine. It was our own fault he left as he was'nt getting a game which was wrong.Might I add he was a sound man. The other was the goalie for EG upto 2005. He went to school in BH and played all underage with them upto minor and maybe even U21. He then moved to the Gaelsi n the mid nineties, I know for a fact BH were sorry he left. He was a great shot stopper with a good kick out. He got injured just before the County semi final in 2005 and missed that game as a result. This was amajor blow to EG and contributed to them losing that game. This man has not played since for EG.

Spooky some of what you stated is factually incorrect. I would gather by your opions on kilfian and killala on other threads that you must be from north mayo. You stick to commenting on North mayo stuff as you obviously know very little about east mayo and i will stick to commenting on East Mayo Matters cause i know as much about north as you do east.
As for the players you mentioned previously- JK was from ballyhaunis- JG was a far better soccer player- and dont get me started on the Nolan sisters.

Spook I am not interested in asking them anything. It was you who brought them up in the first place. I am just giving my opinion. There were actually 3 nolan brothers that played for EG if my memory is correct. The other 1 mustnt have left much of an impression if you have forgotten about him already. I have been told that none of them would lace the boots of the brothers that currently play on the team now. - would this be a fair comment?

You are right, you are entilted to you opinion, The oldest of the 3 did't play that much after underage as he was away working, played for as long as he could. Played in the half back line in the team that won the clubs first East Mayo Junior Title , was 1989 I think.

The lads on the team at the minute are well able to lace their own boots, don't believe everythig you hear.

Can I ask a question, as you are from Meath what is your interest in this thread? you must know a few from around east Mayo.

Is it true that the Haunis v Gaels game has been moved to Aughamore due to Gaels pitch being unplayable. It has made serios rain over the past 8 months so its not surprising to see it being moved.

Ballyhaunis 1.18 Eastern Gaels 1.4. Anyone have anything to say about the match? Who were the best players for both sides was it a fair game and did EG put up a fight?
