Ah now, the Derry v Dublin '93 Semi-final was a great game alright, and as a massively proud Derryman it will remain etched in my memory forever as i was a wide-eyed 15 year old watching his heros.

However, in my humble opinion, Derry v Down at Celtic Park in the Ulster Championship of '94 was truly an epic and indeed the 'All Ireland Final' of that year in many peoples eyes, and i promise you all, had there been a qualifier system back then the fixture would've been returned on the stage it deserved. A truly wonderful game where football was the outstanding winner. I know Derry got beat, but by God did they go down with a fight to a fantastic Down side of that time.

Unfortunately that game was to be the end of the late great Eamon Colemans first tenure in charge of Derry, and yes we should've won more All Irelands, but we were a victim of circumstance as the qualifiers came in much later.

So no takers for the Derry v Armagh match last year?

Niamh,

Was at that match also, very good game of football, not sure if i'd put it up with the greats. I suppose the fact that there was only literally a handful of derry fans at it didn't exactly help create a great atmosphere. I remember a few very good performances especially from the derry full back line where lockhart was put back into at long last after a bad spell at half back. More, of its coming back to me as i write this, collie devlins winner, great point in dying moments, take it back actually, a great game.

I remember speaking at half time to a fermanagh man i know, who has never had a good word to say about any team, who turned to me and said "God, derry are playing well".. at that point i knew we were onto a winner.

I remember a club hurling final about 4 or 5 years back on TG4, i think it was between a kilkenny team and possible a munster team, cant remember for sure but do remember what a great match it was, can anyone shed any light?

Have to agree woth Derry_Led about the Armagh game, it was very good but just not great! I have to say it's great casting your mind back to classic games of the past, but as far as the best recent Derry performance, i feel the National League Final, minus the 1st 20mins, would take some beating. In the second half we were awesome!

I really hope we get past Donegal at the weekend, i feel that game has the makings of another great game!

on a personal level antrim v offaly in 89, what a day to be an antrim supporter, finally winning a match worth talking about! also the fact offaly players clapped antrim players off the pitch, fantastic display of sportsmanship!! maybe theres another potential thread and debate!!

Ah no problem Niamh darling!
Just walk into The Big Tree on that day and shout my name. When a lad resembling George Clooney in a Dublin jersey turns around and winks at ya......then Snuffys yer man!
Straight to the corporate box with us then (15 mins after the game has started - im a Dub remember) where we can throw our crab-claws down on the ordinary people below us!
After the match, its a few jars in McGraths for you to drown your sorrows before you hop back on the bus to Derry and dream sweet dreams of long summer days spent in the arms of Snufalufagus in Croker as he watches Dublin advance through the rest of the Championship!

What you mean like last year when they got to an All-Ireland Final after the Ulster-final should have been a replay....I didn't notice any Tyrone Shirts there that day now you come to mention it!

Give over reddoctor you are boring me now!!

You really do epitomise Tyrone people you know, you are just everything I hate in them, smug, chaep comments, when in reality you haven't a clue what you are on about! Derry have beaten you well the last two times we have played you, one champ one in league. Why you have Tyrone ranked so highly above us is based on what? History? Wise up.
