Well, if you call being beat by 3 points falling flat on your face, then how in under god would ye describe a 10point deficit, tripping falling flat on face and doing a sommersault to repeat the performance??!

22809 For me anyway, obviously, it's the 92 final. When red Declan pointed that free near the end and pumped the fist at the Hogan Stand is a moment that will forever be etched in my memory.

In recent times Mayo's win against Dublin a couple of years ago was some bout. The drawn Dublin Tyrone match was a classic as well. Also Tyrone's drawn game against Louth in 06 was a good spectacle as well.

Sorry Lockjaw but I don't think that moment is really etched in your memory. That point that Declan Bonner scored near the end was from play and not from a free. Agree with you though about that game being the greatest ever! Unforgettable!

Dublin Kerry Semi Final 77
The Legendary Game

-------

How did I know you would say that Liam?! :-)

Good game but exaggerated at this stage. Dublin v Tyrone in 2005 was a better game of football. Tyrone v Armagh the same year was a great spectacle. Galway v Kildare in 98. The Cork v Waterford Munster final a few years ago, the one that finished 3-16 to 1-21 I think it was. There was a couple of Cork-Tipp Munster finals back in the mid 80s that were super stuff. Donegal v Dublin in 92 was a great game also.

Reddoctor from Tyrone

I notice your hatred for Derry in the majority of your posts. OK Derry vs Tyrone is a great intense rivallry and its always good to get the bragging rights over your neighbour. It's a great feeling when Derry beat Tyrone but I certainly don't hate Tyrone. Thats going down the line of soccer rivalries and we don't want to go there.

Derry vs Down 94 - best game I've seen anyway - Also the Dublin vs Meath 4 game saga a few years ago - fantastic viewing

look i dont hate derry its called winding youins up. dont compare gaelic and soccer please with regard to fans hatred no comparison. if my posts are getting to you derry wans i suggest win in ballybofey on sunday and brag all you want. championship football is what counts, and as you can see from fermanaghs result on sunday -the beating you got last year from monaghan might be a better indicator of where this great derry team, joe brolly not me,. so i will promise not to slag derry of anymore until next monday when it will be open season. (shooting rats in a barrel springs to mind). good luck to derry especially PB.

Oh im well aware of mayo's bad defeats in recent years Derry_ledd, dont worry about that. Im glad it keeps you amused anyway thats the main thing. Personally, i never take any joy in another team suffering a defeat but this year ill make sure i have a good laugh when derry make their usual exit. Im looking forward to it already

OK Red doc - but we're not even playing youse in the championship (not yet anyway). Time enough for winding each other up when we next meet - until then get a life!

As I am myself aware of Derrys defeats red and green. It is not Mayo being defeated that amuses me, its some of your dillusional fans who expect probably too much from yourselves, as you may agree. And before you say that mayo fans are not the only dillusional ones out there, I know.

I just made a comment that I didn't think anyone would take personal offense from.

And don't try and take the moral high ground "i never take any joy in another team suffering a defeat", come on now, are you sayin that you don't absolutely love it when mayo defeat one of your neighbours such as galway, or even wins over dublin or Kerry. I am like alot of people in that i like to see the underdog win. When counties like mayo make themselves favorite for every game, it means your often supporting the other team.

In Derry, we hope for alot, but in truth are not really surprised when we don't deliver. I hope Derry do well this year, i dont expect them to win the all ireland or will not argue with anyone that they should or deserve to, or are due to. Hope we beat donegal, and as it now seems dissapoint you in doing so.

Fair enough so Derry_ledd. I have nothing personal against derry. Just dont like people making comments about finding mayo's defeats in croke park amusing. They were far from amusing i can tell you. We'll move on

doireboy i will call a truce, its obviously hurtin too much to face the reality of another potless season. winning the league is very important in the development of you boys as a team and you should be content. like donegal last year winning the league will keep your morale high and give you all an extra bit of kudos, but in reality the big prize will be beyond you. forwards win all irelands and kerry have them in abundance. derry donegal tyrone and armagh will fight it out in ulster and maybe reach a semi but thats it neither have the attacking flair to win the all ireland. all four play the same way 13 men behind the ball and rely on frees. donegal derry on sunday will be like a rugby match with the top place kicker on show winning the day. cant see more than 10 scores in total from play.

Red and Green, sorry but your slag is completely laughable, what is it about you Mayo folk does that fresh sea air make you delusional? - NB not aimed at Mayo as a county, but a few of your representatives!

Refer to the following points you made below:

'Thanks for that Derry_ledd. We'll make sure we have a good laugh at ye when ye inevitably fall flat on ye're faces once again this year'

I don't know where to begin with this one, other than to firstly ask if this is a joke. I don't want to have to remind you of the showndown in Celtic Park last year, noe the meeting this year, on both occassions Mayo were destroyed.

'Oh im well aware of mayo's bad defeats in recent years Derry_ledd, dont worry about that. Im glad it keeps you amused anyway thats the main thing. Personally, i never take any joy in another team suffering a defeat but this year ill make sure i have a good laugh when derry make their usual exit. Im looking forward to it already'

So it seems not only are aware of Mayos defeats, but you claim 'Personally, i never take any joy in another team suffering a defeat but this year', but go on to say you will laugh when derry make their 'usual' exit, the funny thing about that statement is not only do you contradict yourself, but usually 33 teams make an exit from the championship- so its not that 'inevitable'.

Seriously, there was no call for that about Derry, and if you are going to slag off another county, make sure you can do it without leaving youself with an open goal...O wait, you are from Mayo...hehe couldn't resist! ;)
