TommyDoo - I think donegal_insider summarised it up pretty well but maybe you can help out. James Gallagher is from Cloughaneely, ok? He's living in Glenswilly, ok? He's employed in Ballybofey, ok? What's the criteria that qualifies him to play for St Eunans? Murt (Donegal) - Posts: 252 - 23/08/2009 23:55:33 401454 Link 0 |
We have no Glenswilly players on our Snr Team thats a myth the rubbish that the McGeehins are from Glenswilly is rubbish they are from Conwall and left Eunans once to play for the Glen and returned again personal reasons .Eddie Brennan plays with us as he had a family connection with the town and all his family live here now why would he live now in Sligo.David McGinley learned his trade in the O'Donnell Park and was developed there to the player he is today along with his brothers who attended Woodlands national school and St.Eunans College he may have lived in Falcarragh awhile but Letterkenny is his home and like a lot of folk was born here.It was a matter of choice for James Gallagher who he wanted to play with and to be honest James has a lot more in going on in his head with the difficult job of managing Harps on a shoestring he was working beside the O'Donnell Park and got to know more Eunans Folk than the other clubs mentioned on this forum we can't race people out of the park the GAA is a community within a larger community in any urban town. Sure the Gaels are from the same area as Eunans and have players from all over the Town same as Eunans so how would it be ok for James Gallagher to go to them but a crime to go to Eunans same aul storey here. Pointer (Donegal) - Posts: 1200 - 24/08/2009 10:21:49 401690 Link 0 |
This is how James Gallagher can play with Eunans Rule 38 part b A County Committee shall have the option within County bye law to allow a player to play with a club from within the area in which the player works. As James Gallagher works across the road from the Park then he is entitled to play with Eunans as was his own choice. Pointer (Donegal) - Posts: 1200 - 24/08/2009 10:50:54 401717 Link 0 |
Sorry your wrong Murt James was working in Letterenny when he transferred to Eunans which is his right. Pointer (Donegal) - Posts: 1200 - 24/08/2009 10:54:23 401725 Link 0 |
Ok Pointer we'll leave it at that, thanks for the clarification. Murt (Donegal) - Posts: 252 - 24/08/2009 12:18:51 401874 Link 0 |
No Problem Murt but I do hope that the original matter is dealt with and the young footballers from both Clubs get a chance to play in a County Final proper as both Teams have the best under 16s in the County it's not their fault the final was made a shambles of or either club. 'pointer'...why are you going on about this 'holiday period' from the 1st of august to the 7th when st eunans played adara in the semi final on the 1st of august in mc cumhaill park! when the truth is the st eunans keeper was suspended because he was sent off in the semi final so unable to play in the final. st eunans should at least have notified cloughaneely to let them know about this 'holiday period' instead of letting them travel to milford to realise that there was no match on! Terrible! DonegalGaa (Donegal) - Posts: 16 - 29/08/2009 02:29:16 408369 Link 0 |
They did it was up to the Co.Official after that you are missing the point here the Teams arn't to blame on this one the Official knew the situation on that particular weekend in advance. Pointer (Donegal) - Posts: 1200 - 29/08/2009 13:52:18 408523 Link 0 |
Sorry lads but i am confused. Did Eunans gets thrown out of the championship because they did not field in the final OR because they played a player who was suspended? Fredthered (Donegal) - Posts: 1144 - 30/08/2009 15:07:22 409058 Link 0 |
The game wasn't played Eunans informed Co.Official that they would not be fielding on the 7th as some of their players were away on holidays but asked for the game to be played on the Sunday evening as thery only got three days notice and had already asked the lads to put of their holidays a few days to play in the semi final as stated in the rule book this period is set aside for holiday arrangements. Yeah i was under the impression that there were no games to be played on first week in August. Fredthered (Donegal) - Posts: 1144 - 31/08/2009 11:01:49 409780 Link 0 |
you are correct Fredthered they can only be played if both teams are in agreement. Pointer (Donegal) - Posts: 1200 - 31/08/2009 13:22:04 410002 Link 0 |
