Its a dying breed today with all the TV cameras and the blatant diving cheating that goes on these days....

Mullins, Drumm, Docherty, Hickey, O'Se, Kennelly, Barr, Lyons, Foley, Harnan, McEntee, Gilligan, Willie Joe,

I find it hard to identify hard men these days as it is such a sanitised sport and people know that they won't be hit back etc

Legend, I'd say big Cass would put manners on both of them though!! I remember playing against him in the Sigerson one time and to say there was no Donegal sentiment would be a complete understatement! They nearly had to call Horatio from CSI to investigate the damage!!

One of the hardest ever to play for Donegal was Martin Shovlin from the mid-80s to the mid 90s. Not the biggest or best built fella but hard as nails. Remember a right few battles between himself and Colm O'Rourke down through the years and they were n't for the faint hearted! Also, have heard a few of the older Killybegs fella's talk about some Lynch fella who played for Tyrone in the 80/90s. Anybody know him?

Jazus Donegall is full of hard men it appears, but here my list.

Red Collier and Bertie Cunningham of Meath in the 60s
Paddy Mc Cormack, Mullins ,Horse Kennelly,Denehan, Padi 70s
Lyons, Harnan, John Lynch from Tyrone, Hugo Clerkin. 80s
Barr and John McDermott Gilligan 90s
O Mahony, Galvin, Gormley, Clerkin and the bould Darra who is king at this moment IMO.

Phillip Loughran is a tough fella, remember watching Armagh V Tyrone and one of the Tyrone players - cant remember who ran straight into him and literally bounced off him, dont think Loughrane flinched

At 5 '6' Johnny McGurk' was wicked and as hard as nails. Remember a club hurling game in Derry where he came in roaring at big Brian McGilligan - McGilligan actually took a step back!

Also Lyons, Coyle and McDermott of Meath, Molloy of Donegal, Cahalane of Cork, McGeeney of Armagh.

Currently - the Rock from Cork, Whelan, Galvin McCusker and Doherty of Derry etc

I'd have to say Martin Storey. He came up to Donegal to do a training/drinking session with Liam after they won the All Ireland.

He joined in a match after the training, myself and my cousin decided to mark him. Ball thrown in, I hit him hard with the shoulder to the ground, Storey bounces up like a ball, goes by 3 swinging hurls, hits the back of the net from 30 yards.

The only man to ever to laugh off a Helicopter shoulder, 100% hardman
