I have no problem with the Police, but they did break down the doors to gain entrance to the offices (that's heavy handed tactics) they did have dogs with them and a pregnant women went into labour! or and you only have to look at the Protesters over in the West Gas fields the way they get treated?

Ah lads, the laws were created for the protection of all. If you did'nt have laws you would have anarchy. If the law was on the side of the Shell protesters or the Thomas Cook protesters then the guards would have to act on their behalf. Maybe the law is wrong but then that is why you have debate, referendum, election etc so that you can get your point or feelings across.

Fortyfive, it is obvious that a window would have to be broken to gain access to a locked building if those inside chose not to open the door. Nobody was injured !! That woman who had the baby was interviewed this morning on the radio and she said that the first card of congratulations she received after the birth was from the guards that took her from the building. She said they were very nice to her !!

Now while have taken their part on this occasion dont get me wrong as i would be the first to criticise them when they make a blunder. I work with youth in a very poor area of Cavan and would have a lot of dealings with the guards and while there are a few "thick" individuals in the force i can say that in general they are not a bad lot. I remember the body of a person who was "down and out" a few years ago being found and because he had no relations the guards collected the money from within their station to bury him and they acted as pall-bearers as well as he had no relations to attend his funeral. I could mention many more such incidents. When some of them do wrong they deservedly get a bad press like in Donegal even though the wrongdoers were in a very small minority but rightly so. The guards are not strangers as they come from in our midst and from every walk of life. Give them a fair chance lads because there is one thing certain, we will need their help some day !! Mistakes are always highlighted by the press but good deeds are seldom publicised !!

He would have been preaching against the things that contributed to the mess. 95% of the wealth owned by less than 5% of the population, none of the rich paying tax, corrupt governments and politicians, I could go on all night.

But then who wants a good society when times are good and greed gets the better of them?

Well whatever about the mortgages, I agree houses got quare expensive.
But car loans n credit card debts are no ones fault but the lad who ran up the debt. I know plenty of clowns who went off getting big loans to buy new cars when they could easily have survived in an old cheap car. Likewise most of the credit card debts were run up on non necessary expenditure like clothes, holidays, nights out etc.
People shouldnt go borrowing money then complainin when their asked to pay it back.

Horse, agree with you !! Never used a credit card, its cash or nothing because then you realise the value of the item. Drive an old banger, nobody wants to steal it or even damage it as you would not notice new damage anyway. Debts have to be paid back and some people bought bigger houses than they needed hence bigger mortgages !! The cuts should start at the top though but they wont as usual !!

i agree with you to some extent but people were under pressure to get money and credit cards came calling , yu are also right about people living above their means but they were told the good times are here for good and they bought into it , also it does not help when the then leader told people who were warning about a crash to go and commit suicide ,we dont do politics well in this country there were great irish politicians but these stood down after 1916 and the war of independence and we never replaced them , what we got was lads who played the civil war politics and passed their seats to their future generations , as for labour they stood aside in the 1919 elections to let sinn fein win and never recovered since and the others like old tomas of the workers party even though thet tried to make a difference if people were seen to support parties like these they were looked down on we reap what we sow and **** flows down hill
