always have an excuse, who was laughing after the match? and who was once again sent packing as losers? Allegedly punched him, allegedly kicked him in the face, didnt happen was never proven. Im sure all the county players were flat out in the gym 120 years ago you tool. Everyone knows mayo will win nothing untill they toughen up ballboy, but you keep preaching about the nice fancy football the lovely outside of the left boot kick passes that come of about once out of five attempts. Keep it coming ballboy because it will be some laugh in another month or two when mayo are humiliated once again in the championship.

hate to burst the bubble but music doesnt motivate - having studies motivation for years that was a definate conclusion - ac/dc versus the spice girls will equally not motivate- the best motivator of the lot is silence and reflection - the best motivation i have ever witness is little more than whispering in a silent changing room - raoring like a bull does nothing absolutely nothing it produces movement but that isnt motivation. some good tunes but totally a waste of time with regards motivation

i think if people look up the definition of motivation, they will see that what ballboy is saying does make sense.

i think its every man for himself....ordinary club players try and get motivated too much so the first thing they do when they get on the field is burst a lad...they forget what they have to do for the team and will probably make mistakes...players at the top level...county football, rugby, soccer, all get motivated in a different way...concentrating on their own game and their opposite number....if they make a mistake how will they recover and stop it happening the next time. the dublin manager that won the all ireland in 95 said its not about fitness...its about who can concentrate for the full game and limit the amount of mistakes...i think he's right....nowadays every team is as fit as each other..while some teams have more skill than others when a lesser team goes a few points down the heads drop...a fully focused team will keep going.

anyway enough of that....a good band to listen to is arcade fire...either intervention, rebellion or no car goes...not that i'd be into that sort of thing.

Players on a panel should suggest songs that they like.

that music can help to focus them in the lead up to the games.

but if players don't really care there is nothing you can do to motivate them. unless you are Al Pacino... http://youtube.com/watch?v=9rFx6OFooCs

Also, Flight of the Valkryies by Wagner.

Favorite music of Adolf Hitler.

This song I like.

Right proudly high over Dublin town
They flung out the flag of war
It was better to die 'neath an Irish sky
Than at Suvla or Sud el Bar
and from the plains of Royal Meath
Strong men came hurrying through
While Britannia's Huns with their long range guns
Sailed in through the foggy dew.

As can be seen even back in 1916 the Dubs were well able to organize DIG OUTS from their neighbours.

My goodness samin10!!! you really have a lot of bitterness towards mayo dont you!! Calm down my friend - I know mayo usually beat you but surely you can take your beating like a man without resorting to hysterics?
Theres nothing wrong with nice fancy football anyway. Most people enjoy the spectacle of a well taken score far more than the spectacle of a jersey pull or ankle trod... The reason GAA games are good spectator sports is the high number of scores - compare that to watching a soccer match where 3 scores is considered above average.
It reminds me of the way the republicans in the US have managed to make the word liberal an insult! Nonsense. Skillfull football and liberalism go hand in hand. The best traits of humanity celebrated as they should be. Conservatives are caged in fear - be it football, politics, or anything else. Thus players like Bellew are celebrated because they are terrier like pests who can disrupt and contain, while players like McDonald are scorned because they sometimes fail in their quest for the sublime.

Who will ever forget McDonalds point against Dublin in 06? One of the most beautiful scores in the history of the game. Not just sublime in its execution, but imbued with massive importance because it was the winning score in an all ireland semi final.
Talk about pressure, talk about delivering.

To the sneaks, draggers and swarmers - you may have your occasional days in the sun. Your negatives may occasionally cancel out the positives. But ultimately yours is a doctrine doomed to failure, a cult of death. You will strangle the life out of the game but what you forget is that it will always come back. Players will always want to excel, to pull off the 1 in a million. You can brainwash them and shackle them all you like, but as soon as you turn your back....

Samin10; summer is here, the championship has started, the girls are wearing skirts. Enjoy it.

I would say a brilliant song is Lux Aeterna (also known as Requiem for a Dream) by Clint Mansell. This is the music that was for the Ryder cup ads and Sky Sports also use it. Others to include would be:

Muse - Plug In Baby
Slipknot - Before I Forget
Lacuna Coil - Swamped
Slipknot - Pulse of the Maggots
Beastie Boys - Fight For Your Right
Led Zeppelin - Kashmir
Iron Maiden - Run to The Hills (Mayo supporters only)

Can't look past "The Game of Inches" speech from Any Given Sunday. Awesome. Or "To Win Just Once" by the Saw Doctors is quite good too.

Horse i know your a respected member of hoganstand so i will try not to rip into that rubbish post too much.
1. Mayo useually beat us. I can remember one league match and we stuffed them, dont think we have met in championship, if we have its a long time ago. Current armagh team is mainly built around the u21 team that beat mayo in all-ireland final.

2. People come to see scores and not defensive play. Do you not remember the hidings we handed out to yourselves over the last five or six years in championship football. If i remember correctly the league semi final against mayo was pretty high scoring as well (granted it was armagh doing the vast majority of the scoring). 2006 all ireland final was one of the biggest scoring games in history. Mayo racked up a good scoreline but yet they were still hammered, high scoring yet one of the worst games ever in an all-ireland final, give me the 2003 final anyday, poor game but at least it was competitive. Why dont we play with no goalkeepers or defence because it seems that if they do their job they get stick for stopping people from scoring. Sorry but i thought thats what they were there for. Cant remember the exact scorelines but 2002. Armagh hit some big scorelines something like 2-15 against tyrone. hammered fermanagh, beat donegal with something like 1-15. Both sligo games were high scoring replay armagh hit 1-17. Against dublin 1-13 and kerry 1-12. Basically you can talk about swarming and defending all you want but if you dont have players to hit points and goals you will win nothing. Yet to see a 0-0 draw in any armagh match.

3. Ciaran McDonalds point against Dublin was a cracker and at the time i was over the moon. I have watched the match again recently and for every moment of magic there was and there were some, there was a couple of mis placed passes. Trying to lace the ball 50 yards of the outside of the boot when a simple 20 yard pass to the nearest man would do. Sorry but give me a steady forward an oisin mcconville or stevie mcdonnell any day of the week. Someone who does the simple things right rather than trying the spectacular all the time which more often than not do not come off.

4. The sneaks daggers and swarmers may have their occassional day in the sun. They have been having it since 2002. Armagh changed the nature of the game tyrone and kerry copied their tactics which anyone with a brain knows. So mister consevative dont be afraid of change embrace it, because untill the likes of laois and mayo do they will win nothing.

Championship is here i will enjoy it because being an armagh man ill have more than most to cheer about

Nevermind Motivational music what about this..

The fight with Lewis was not Ali's only flirtation with Croke Park. In the dressing room just before the All-Ireland Gaelic football final of 2002, a personal message from him was read out to the Armagh team, who went out and won their first All-Ireland senior title.

Couldn't beat a motivational speech
