When Glenswilly was set up in the mid 80s there was confusion where the st. eunans/glenswilly boundary lay! so it was decided amongst the clubs to draw up a new boundary, different to the town boundarys. so bomany is part of letterkenny town but within the glenswilly catchment area! so lookin up the net is no good pointer, i come from bomany and have played all my life for glenswilly and all bomany players have gone to glenswilly school! eunans may have shot themselves in the foot, the boundary goes further along the conwall/tullygay side so they could have the mcgeehins! ya cant win them all!! as for the club situation i hope its sorted sooner rather than later so all the hard work of the past doesnt go to waste, althougfh i understand the problem is deeper than many think! tirchonaill92 (Donegal) - Posts: 156 - 03/09/2009 19:41:13 414758 Link 0 |

As I said I don't care who he plays with the point here is Bomany is and always will be part of Letterkenny it's the geographics clarifying the big stone is the boundary on the Conwall side of the Swilly and not up beside Conwall graveyard ask the McGeehins yourself. Ah now Norman be fair. Would that not be like making the rich richer and the poor poorer? Glenswilly is an excellent wee club. Thier transformation from the Junior ranks was quite astonishing and 1 many Junior clubs would dream of. Sure times are hard now but they should stick strong. Im sure under new management (perhaps a local man) all the lads will be back playing. Most clubs in the county have disciplined players for drinking etc.. but Glen were unfortunate enouh to have their turmoil aired in public! In all fairness it isn soccer we are talkin about here.. the problem in the club will be sorted if they get get in new people in the board and managment. In the championship Glen had 2 subs against Ardara and one the subs was a man who never played in years in his 40's. So the quicker it is sorted the better and the players should come back. snoop.dog.ducky (Donegal) - Posts: 16 - 04/09/2009 15:48:02 415653 Link 0 |
Pointer, i never mentioned murphy in my post so wasnt jumpin to conclusions! as for the whole bomany thing, im sayin that im from bomany and have played for glenswilly and gone to school there and although im "technically" from letterkenny I consider myself to be from glenswilly! im sure he feels the same! I understand ur point but just because ur not from the heart of the parish doesnt make it easier to leave! tirchonaill92 (Donegal) - Posts: 156 - 06/09/2009 11:49:59 416870 Link 0 |
