Can anyone shed any light on whats going on in Glenswilly? Sounds like a club in turmoil.

Tried to post before but wasn't put up so i'll put it as gently as possible.
Between 5 and 7 players are refusing to play for the Seniors until substantial changes are made in Management and Executive. Think that gives the general idea without being contreversial.
They have no League game this weekend so it'll be interesting to see if and how it's resolved before Championship next week.

They had a meeting to clear the air last Wednesday evening. It just resulted in both sides becoming further entrenched in their views.------- all said they were not making themselves available for Glenswilly this year. ---- and ---said they were seeking a transfer to another club. The Senior team for the Championship had a meeting and a meal on Thursday evening where some of the more senior members of the team made some remarks to---- who then walked out and said he wouldn't be making himself available for the rest of the year. Glenswilly are playing Ardara in the Championship, in Ardara, without -----. This is the rumour circulating around, but we'll have to wait until Sunday to find out.

That was the moderater that blanked out the players names. I suppose they don't want to risk ruining someones reputation and I suppose I agree with them. That's the bare bones of the story and you can probably fill in the blanks yourself.

if they cant behave themselves with their home club what chance is there they would behave themselves elsewhere most clubs and counties have problems with the better players why does glenswilly think they should be any different, this would not have happened with the previous managment as all you have to do is look at how well glenfin are going at the moment. They are a team that never fulfillrd its potential but watch this space.

Glenswilly in turmoil! Akin to 'Rochester in crisis'! Who the hell do they think they are! They need to get over themselves and get back to playing ball, forget their oul posturings...its not like they are world-beaters or anything...

I agree with apple12 that I feel sorry for the lad if the rest of the team are acting like we hear they are, the unfortunate thing is that although he is a giant on the field he is still very young and easily influenced. I don't agree that he should leave the club as that is where he is from and should be loyal to his own club but the CLUB needs to protect players like Murphy!!

Glenswilly will get the problems sorted. The Glenswilly players that played on Sunday did the club no shame their back line was really impressive and with a little more luck they would have won.

I think personally that there is a lot of people playing this dispute up
This has developed into a rumour mill for people to sort out there own personal issues with certain people

We'll see how the rumour mill runs next year when the Glen are losing at least 2 Senior players (who have played Inter-county in the last 5 years). Another major player is meant to be considering his options.
They'd do well to remember that pride comes before a fall.

Its a pity to see the happenings in Glenswilly. Small club with great support, workers etc. Surprised at one of the BIG.N players not making himself available. However, no PLAYER or PERSONALITY is bigger than the club. Let them go. Plenty of young talent there. These BIG players are setting poor example to the younger people of their Parish.

Some of the Glenswilly players who are upset at the way the club is going are meant to be handing in transfer requests to go to Eunans and/or Glenfin. The story is that one of the BIG Name players is defintey staying. Another on/off/on/off member of the Donegal panel is going. It might sound CORNY but another forward is also meant to be leaving. 2 other players are considering their options. One a midfielder/full-forward and the other is the best HF in club football. It's too bad to see a club that pulled themselves up from Division 4 to Division 1 and Senior County Final in 7 years trying to go back down there again even quicker.

I dont think eunans needs or even wants these players bar possibly the main county senior and u21 man as he has the right attitude for football

These players would be better to stay with their own club if it was Murphy there would be no problem as he is fron Letterkenny but the three lads are from the Glen so would only cause problems for themselves.

donegal_insider you seem to know a lot about the glenswilly players and seem to be enjoying posting plenty of information. all of the non playing players were at the league match against ardara at the weekend (not playing). this matter will be sorted sooner or later. all the players apart from maybe 1 will be back playing for the glenswilly club before too long
