Here here tomaao7.

JimboDub: Is it true that the residents weren't informed of the all-night machinery work in advance?

That throws an entirely different complexion on things.

Not one made fun of any familys and would never as me for one would never go that low . I know that they where told in advance this was going to happen that is why they where offered the hotel for the 2 nights and i know this because a resident told me as he and his family live there . But cant understand something about some threads some posters attack and insult others because they have no other argument to put up .

No because if you see work done anywhere on sites ,roads etc the county councils builders etc say sorry for inconveince caused anyhow .

a sign on the road is a vastly different thing than the apology issued by croke park

I hope people don't see this as an anti-Dublin thread - its not. Its the furthest thing from it. I see that a lot of the Dublin posters are backing the residents on this one and they are entitled to their opinion but I would hate to think that they are backing the residents just because theyre from Dublin. The residents issue is an issue that affects all GAA fans and if it true that they knew of the machinery work in advance then we should condemn the residents out of hand regardless. On the other hand if the residents weren't told in advance then I suppose they deserve some sympathy but really, protesting in the way they did is not on.

Also if lack of sleep was the issue, why were they up protesting in the middle of the night. Would they not have been better trying to catch 40 winks from the comfort of their own beds. I know where I'd be more likely to get some sleep and its not standing out in Jones Roads standing in the way of lorries.

Poeple have the right yes to protest nobody is disputing that but the thing everyone wants to know and still got no answers to why did they wait till it is over . Also may i say it was a illegal protest as you have to apply for to protest so they where breaking the law as well standing in front of lorries . Am not been nasty here but that is the law you must apply for to have a protest .

Good article in todays Gaelic Life giving out hell about the residents.

- Major jist of the article is that the residents said that they didn't have a problem with U2 and waited until after the concert on Monday night to protest knowing full well that the GAA was under pressure to have the pitch relaid for this weekends matches. Basically the reporter said that the residents were fine with U2 but gave the 2 fingers to the GAA after all the GAA has done over the years to accomodate them. THe protest according to the reporter was specially planned for no other reason than knowing that because the GAA was under pressure over the pitch, it put the residents in a great bargaining position to weedle more concessions and freebies out of them.

Shame shame and more shame on the residents!
