366973 hah dell they dont get free tickets,me uncle lives there and he told me today when i asked him that the residents group are a given a small number of concert tickets and then they have a raffle.he never heard about free hotels niether and id hardly believe that ,there wouldnt be enough hotel rooms in the city, there is more houses around croker than you think.anyway it doesnt bother him too much as he actually sits out his back and has a beer when the concerts are on.he reckons its just a load of old biddys with too much time on there hands and would moan about anything.

I also no a soliciter from there well it is his home house he says they all get tickets and to be fair to him he also says that they where offered hotels for the 2 nights they refused and they the residents group get a sum of money every year . Now naimh i see where your coming from with the baby thing but they do only need few things for hotel and if they need anymore they can go back to house not if there going to other side of world and croke park was there than most of these poeple .

Have'nt followed the detail on this issue
but if they were concerned at the construction noise/ the building of the stage/ The removal of the stage- the related traffic and the noise from the concert

Why did they noy try and stop them bringing in the equipment rather than bringing it out ???

Think they were hoping that DCC would not grant planning permission for 48 straight hours of work. And Dellboy, you obviously dont understand what it would be like moving a young family to a hotel for 2 nights. Why should they have to do that just because croke park want to get something down in 2 days rather than in 3 days. Moving to a hotel for 2 nights!!! Who in their right mind would say OK to that. Nobody will kick me out of my house boy. Not everyone in the world is a dedicated GAA follower like yourself. If you want to stay in your house you are entitled to a peaceful nights rest or at least the same nights rest that yoiu can get every night of the rest of the year. Again I disagree with all their other complaints and have hunted them from the door before but they were right about this one. And there's no point trying to defend the GAA or Dublin City Council.

Not defending anyone but they could have put up with it for 48 hours as the work has to be done and that is that . I also stated in one of my posts the gaa where wrong to hold these concerts week before games and trying to get a pitch down . Now the residents always want everything there way if they where tired enough complaining about noise they would have went to hotel i know i would till work was done and it would be a change for a night or two.

People love a good whinge. The lad on the news looked like a typical moaning neighbour too.

They get free tickets and get to live beside the premier venure in Irish sport. I doubt anyone there is over 100. Its not a new phenomena. Shut up or put up because crokers going no where.

as another local resident like thykingdomcome, this is the first time i agree with the local resident association. having work being carried out 24 hours a day is not acceptable. if they cannot do the work during normal working hours then the concerts shouldn't take place.

as for the free tickets thing, in the 5 years or so that it has happened, i got free tickets for the police (which i don't think was sold out) and an option to buy 2 tickets for the french rugby game at 90 euro a pop.

Excuse me here this is not a anti dublin rant and if you read my posts you will see i do know about it and apart from that it is all over the news . Now not sure why you think everyone is against dublin or is it attention seeking and it is best we do not reply to each other from now on as you cant debate a a thread without jibberish.

They have some neck complaining about disruption. I paid 70 euro for my ticket and a bus to Dublin. These moaners got to listen to Bono three nights over the weekend from the comfort of their own homes. The brass neck of some of them!!!
