ya exactly while liberties scrapped through they also won the group!!! tie of the quarter finals will be knockaderry V glenroe tough to predict a winner to be honest!!! but experience should see glenroe through-caherline must have plenty of contacts in the county board getting their match called off due to a players holiday commitments!!! I dont recall glenroe being so fortunate when it was requested for them in their group match against pallasgreen a few week's ago-bruff against caherline now holding up the quarters but 2 of the 4 may be played this weekend which proimises to be another feast of hurling!

Glenroe to bt Knockaderry
Bruff to bt Caherline
South Liberties to bt Mungret
Monaleen to contest relegation with Patrickswell

also senior qualifier games this weekend too ahane V murroe/b should be tie of the round with ahane to win.

dont think knockaderry are favourites eastgael but if they do beat glenroe, which i expect them to do,they will take an awful lot of beating!

liberties have gone backwards since the start of their campaign, they nearly blew it v Pallas and they know it! What reason the Bruff v Caherline game was fixed for next weekend , i don't know.but with both teams through it wasn't a big deal anyway. I heard the 1/4 finals were going to be held back till after the intermediate all-ireland.

eastgael - i heard over the w/e that caherline/bruff agreed to delay their match due to players away on holidays. Also heard that QFs are almost definitely to be held after the all ireland intermediate final. Rumors are that the intermediate mangement even wanted the IHC games over the w/e to be postponed.

aragones - Ballybrown left me down regarding my predictions for the QF. Not surprising since I learned that they have only trained 4 times in the last couple of months. Hard to believe really but their results seem to back it up

Were south liberties that poor eastgael ya? certainly gives hope to the rest of us!! still think their group was the most difficult though, where 3 of the teams were possible winners of the competition. also if john deer and aidan shanahan had not missed the glenroe match through suspension pallas could have and probably should have won the group! indiscipline cost them !! all quarters pushed back to the 5th/6th of september now. early predictions so

Glenroe to beat Knockaderry

re midfieldman, your correct,Mungret will beat liberties if they play like they did at the weekend v Pallas. If Knockaderry beat Glenroe they must be serious contenders, but thats a big if. All depends on whether Glenroe are distracted by the big ball game with Ballylanders, which usually proves their undoing. Hospital and Ballybrown must be sick to find themselves in the relegation semis. No one seems to know how good Bruff or Caherline are yet, both improving sides?

Great weekend of hurling. Tink 1/4 finals fixed weekend of all ireland sept 6th. Kderry vs glenroe def the pick of games. Liberties mungret also b a cracker. Mungret should have beaten both kderry and ballybricken. These 4 will have killed themselves by time one of them gets to final....so bruff could b eventual winners if they hold their nerve. Id have to say glenroe and mungret semi final. Kderry far too reliant on hanley as iv said before...highly evident from sat nites game. I did say kderry half back line was the weakness and this was highly evident on sat nite when ballyb fought back. They never seem to hit any ball these 3 guys, and its usually the solid full back line that saves them which where just superb on sat nite along wit goalie bar the mix up for goal,(cant understand why sullivan isnt on w gaels team...or maybe has no interest in it). Two corner forwards was awful to say the least too weak...wait for the bad weather! Ballybricken tried hard but just a bit too limited to scores from frees which where exceptional taken.
Final word on the ref really was the most biased iv seeen for a bit........knockaderry got nothing off him. Fair play to kderry 1/4 finals for first time...i was one who tipped them for relegation......which now is ballybrown i just cant believe it. Once again the intermeadite championship is open to all 8 left.
May the best team win......(but being from west i hope kderry or newcastle west win it!)

Here is my opinion on the eight quarter-finalists left:

Knockaderry-good management team-fine young outfit-still lacking experience-glenroe should be too strong.

Glenroe-mainly one man team-can struggle to get scores-very physical-could make the final.

Newcastle West-physical team-have made quarters before-should beat caherline(if lose to bruff)-cant see them making final.

Bruff-excellent young team-made semi's 2 years ago-should beat caherline-still a bit young to make it back to senior, q/f exit.

Cappamore-made semi finals last year-sneaked out of group-could be dark horses-good mix of hurlers ,semi-final exit.

Caherline-1st yr out of junior-looking impressive-can self-destruct(patrickswell)-young team-quarter final exit.

South Liberties-young team-alot of baggage from finals-hard to count them out-should make final.

Mungret-very young-sneaked out of group-up and coming team-could be dark horses if they bt south liberties-q/f exit.

I would have to agree with a number of the comments here stating that the Intermediate championship is one to the most open and exciting in years.

I was at the Cappamore and NCW game at the weekend and while Cappamore aren't the greatest hurlers they are tough and determined. However they definitely benefited from the fact the NCW had the foot off the gas and were already through. NCW were poor and while they may be excused by the fact they were through I cant see them progressing too far.

As regards Liberties I have seen them play already this year and while they didn't impress one cant ignore the fact that they have topped by far the hardest group without playing well. I heard from a source that they were poor at the weekend again and that they have performed major surgery on the team not lining out as the programme suggested. Maybe ger loughnane is managing them!!!!!Moving Mark Keane up to the forwards(his natural position) and moving the O Neills around with Shane out of full back to centre it seems a strong team to me.

East gael is this correct, and how did their intermediate county boys do the O Neills and Keane.

South Liberties remain favourites in my book and must be delighted that everyone is talking them down. However Mungret are capable of beating anyone with their forwards but as far as I know they haven't beaten liberties in years.

With regards Glenroe and Knockaderry, it's a shame they meet in the quarter finals as it's a tie worthy of a final. Two teams on form and with a great chance of winning out the competition.

As for bruff and caherline this will be an interesting tie cant see either winning it out this year but can see the winner (probably Caherline) reaching the semi. Saturday will be interesting. Both are young developing sides and only a matter of time before both are up senior in my book.

M.Keane started half forward, was poor overall, freetaking was below par,O'Neills played well,Grimes at fullback is vunrable,Pallas full-forward gave as good he got, minor again next year.

Bruff are obvious favs to beat Caherline on Sunday evening, but i think alot of people are under estimating Caherline. I've a feeling this team are only getting going and will go along way in this competition.
