Was very impressed with Steven Walsh (Glenroe) in the Munster final last night.

Regarding a potential IHC QF W/k end of 30 August, this date is now unlikely due to the county intermediate win last evening. All Ireland final is proviosionally scheduled for week of Aug 30. IHC QFs now most likely to be early Sept.

Centerback who do you expect to be playing who in the quarters and what teams do you think will make the last 4?

aragones - My predictions are:

QF:
Knockaderry vs Glenroe
Ballybrown vs St Liberties
NCW vs Caherline
Kildimo vs Bruff

Last 4 in SF:
Glenroe, St Liberties, NCW, Bruff

knockaderry must be kicking themselves for not appointing Gerry Molyneaux when they had the chance

i dont think Knockaderry are kicking themselves socks. Not one bit. They are within touching distance of a county 1/4 final for the first time in the 4 years since they went intermediate and its the first time that they have won two championship games back to back in those 4 years so the management as well as the players must be doing some very good work.

re centreback, NCW v Caherline would be a repeat of Junior final of '01.

Liberties must really fancy their chances this year,if they don't win county,i'd fancy Glenroe.

i can see NCW going along way and possibly Bruff, Liberties to fall at the last hurdle again........

eastgael, if Im not mistaken NCW won that game easily enough although not 100% confident on that one. In anycase I'd be pretty sure that the current NCW/Caherline teams bear little resemblence to those that contested that Jnr final. Caherline have had a good year to make QF at first attempt but I just think that NCW would edge them - maybe not by a lot but by enough

NCW beat Caherline in 2001 county final by around 18 points. Will be a tight game if these two teams meet. NCW have lost 6 first team players in the last 2 years to Auz.

NCW lost to Bruff last year by 2 points in the first game of the championship, Bruff got a goal last puck of the game,

Either way this quarter final will be tight. Wonder will many players be away for the next round due to the match being on the August weekend.

looks like QF will be 1st weekend in Sept

For reasons I dont know, all matches except Bruff/Caherline (on Aug 10th) are on the long w/e. If QFs are going to be early Sept which looks likely, then why cant all matches be the w/e of Aug 10th and leave the bank holiday free. The Caherline/Bruff lads must have had the w/e booked in Kilkee ....

re westoutcast Newcastle beat Caherline 1-16 to 7pts,half-time 1-9 to 4pts. It was Newcastle's 4th final in a row and after surviving severe pressure at the start of the 2nd half, Goalkeeper McCoy was brilliant, fullback was Hurly i think, all the pressure only yielded a point. Newcastle ran out comfortable winners in the end.Showed great character to keep going till they won a county. That County final was the start of Caherlines journey that finally ended in the '07 County final win over Effin.

McCoy was the Golie all right, D. McCarthy was full back and hurley was in the corner. S. Kelly saved a first half pen for newcastle and caherline fell apart after that.
Would be a close encounter if these two teams meet, but Bruff will have the final say in that. NCW have not won a hurling title since the win in the co. junior title in 2001, where caherline are on a roll at present...............

Prediction Knockaderry V Newcastle West Co final!!!!!!!!!
