Well i hold my hands up and must comment firstly on knockaderrys win on Friday against ballybrown.......wat a result and a shock. They where outstanding and 2-13 to 2-8 really really flatters ballybrown......2 goals came in injury time. ONe thing I would say though is Hanley and Condon agin the two lads who really won it for them.......if they hav an off day kderry will struggle. I said early maybe releagtion but on this showing and if they match the effort and heart really could be there year and I cant believe im saying this.......really looked a total different team to that of which beat Mungret. In fairness the whole team was changed around.......hanley full forward was pure class. Suprisingly i believe they are not through due to ballybricken winning and maybe scoring diff if they lose to Ballybricken. They shouldnt lose but hurling is a strange game......and Ballb wont let the heads drop like ballybrown did. All to play for.......but i hope knockaderry make it thru.......i like the way they try to play.
Ncw as ive said previously are my dark horses this year great win against Kildimo and also they are
paired with bruffs group which means possible caherline in the quarter finals.
Think quarter finals shaping up like following:
Kderry/Ballybrown/Ballybricken vs Glenroe
Kderry/Ballybrown/Ballybricken vs South Liberties
Ncw vs Caherline
Bruff vs Cappamore/HH/Kildimo

Last round left dont know when its fixed for with the Limerick setup sum cracking games left to decide the groups.

Final word goes to Kileedy who in fairness gave a gud account of themselves vs Bruff......but I think they underestimated this Intermeadite championship......need to beat the well to stay out of relegation........what a fall they have had over the last 12months.......it could get worse yet. The well always have a gud game in them. Another cracker in the final round.

First of all "Peedictions" (demonstrates either fat fingers or inability to spell)

Everyone is entitled to their own predictions, Right or Wrong
Knockaderry had a good win against a Ballybrown team missing Alan O'Connor. Also heard NCW booked their place in the quarter finals with a good win.

Waiting to hear the rest of the results

Well done to Knockaderry but most people I believe would have backed B'Brown. Having seen
them at close quarters (the end of my fist!) myself this year - I certainly though they
would win it.

Dear Peter,
In response to your post below...
Most of these clubs are well off their backsides already anf doing their best to promote hurling in West limerick - all but NCW. As far as I know Knockaderry are Premier Minor this year on merit. Just imagine what Ger Downes would do if he had the population of NCW to draw on for his minor team!. These clubs have the coaching set up, all they lack are numbers....

Do you actually know how many young people play GAA in NCW? The population of the town is approx 8,000 including 10% foreign nationals- none of whom play GAA. Add to that the sizeable contingent of people from other parts of the county who live in NCW but work in Limerick etc These people have no affiliation at all with NCW and as I'm sure you can testify many of your own clubmen live in town but continue to play for their respective original clubs.
We do not have the numbers that people from outside the town think we have. It is a constant struggle to attract/retain young players and coaches -added to the success of junior soccer and rugby within the town. We have 2 adult rugby teams 4 soccer teams and two u18 soccer teams. The desmond league program now runs from july till june and players are reluctant to switch from playing soccer regularly to playing GAA when they may play 2 games in a week, then nothing for 12 weeks! Ludicrious!
Young people will continue to play the sports that provide regular games and they are successful with. Until such a time as the West/Co bord provide coaching in the schools in the town and regular games then the young people will stick to other sports. If you don't agree then look at the success the Camogie club in the town has had, regular games and training has resulted with the underage teams winning countless county titles over the past few seasons.
No other club in west limerick has the same level for competition for players from other sports.
Then again I'm sure there are piles of people waiting to have a go at the townies...... small village mentalities etc

westoutcast once again you've dived in with both legs. let me assure you there is nothing wrong with my fingers. your comment about gerry molyneaux (current intermediate manager) taking over from richie was very funny! cause 1) it would never happen and 2) your spelling of molyneaux and intermediate will bring a smile to every1's face. end of matter its a gaa website not an english class!

Pigseye: Fair enough.

I admit my over anxious fingers loose track of them selves when typing about my county, which leads to the odd typo same as every one else.....

Well after round 2, The Quarter finals are shaping up nicely:

Overall winner will either be Knockaderry, or South Liberties. As they are predicted to meet in the semi final it will be a huge battle.

Killedy are showing that they are a team on the Slide to Junior A.

Dark horses are Bruff and NCW, both young teams who were un-lucky last year.

Also: Anyone know dates for next round of fixtures and the dates for the Quarter Finals.

Welcome on board the Knockaderry band wagon Westoutcast. Plenty of room for you. We will be swinging by Castlemahon to pick up Pigs eye and then onwards for Batman and Gandwalways

Amazing how you changed your opinion from "No team in the west" to "Overall winner will either be Knockaderry, or South Liberties." Great stuff.

Ps. Gandwalways, Thanks so much for clearing up how the quarter finals are shaping up. Crystal

next round is fixed for 20/7 or 3/8. 1/4 finals down for 10/8 but as usual master list won't come to pass. lot of hurling yet. knockaderry and south libs could yet meet in 1/4 finals i think. bruff seems to be the team every1 is talking about. then you can't forget about glenroe or if ballybrown got the wake up call they needed. can't see the winner coming from k'derry/libs game. 1 is too young the other is just not lucky enough.

To be totally honset I think NCW have a better chance than Knockaderry in winning the Intermidate championship.
It's been a long time since Knockaderry beat the townies from NCW in championship action, (1990's I think)

However both teams are through to the quarter finals allready, it would be fantastic for west limerick hurling if they both met in the Final and let the Best team win who ever it may be.

It is dangerous to be talking up your team too much, the S/Lib boys have learned this over the years.

In terms of Western Gales: How come there is no players from NCW / Croke / Feenagh on the team?

WestOutCast: I'm afraid your wrong saying that Knocknaderry are already through to the county 1/4 final as all 4 teams in that group are still in with a shout of qualifying even if it is very remote for Mungret. It'll come down to points difference for the two teams emerging.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Likelyhood is that Knockaderry will qualify

patmac points differerence wont matter to knockaderry if they draw or beat ballybricken.in fact nothing worse than a two point defeat sees them through no matter what happens in the other game.Cant see ballybricken toppling them anyway.South Liberties are in a precarious position.Eventhough they top the group a loss to pallasgreen and a win by glenroe would almost certainly see them eliminated due to pallasgreens superior scoring average.

bighitter you're a being a bit harsh on westoutcast. he's only giving his opinion. no bandwagons. and i don't know why you think i'm from castlemahon. maybe its because i pray every nite they'll go down to jr b hurling!

Agree with you there peckory, liberties could well find themselves out of the championship after the Pallas game, very tight and Pallas will put it up to liberties like no one else can, they've come very close to turning over liberties already this season. p.s. pigseye, didn't see your predictions posted for rnd 2 games!

Rough guide to pecking order of intermediate teams left in champioship in my humble opinion! 1 Bruff,2 South liberties,3 Knockaderry,4 glenroe,5 Ballybrown,6 Pallasgreen,7 caherline,8 NCW,9 H/H,10 Cappamore,11 Ballybricken,12 kildimo,13 Mungret . Any of the top 6 teams are capable of winning the championship.Group 3 and 4 much weaker than group 1 and 2 from what i have seen so far with the exception of bruff.

Reply: Bruff No. 1 team, are you serious? Really!
A team who have beeten a poor Killedy team, P/Well's 2nd team and have yet to play Caherline. In my opinion the teams that are capable of winning this Championship are: 1 South Liberties, 2 Ballybrown, 3 Glenroe, 4 Pallasgreen, 5 Bruff, 6 Caherline, 7 NCW, 8 Knockaderry, 9 Ballybrickan, 10 Kildimo,

But who knows there might be a surprise in store......

When is next round on???
