i think its about time we created a thread praising the most talented and gifted musician in modern music. he can put his hand to seemingly ANY genre and excel in it and release highly critically acclaimed albums. even on his very first album, leisure, he only wrote the lyrics for nearly every song in the studio literally 10 minutes before they recorded it. he has wrote masterpieces like the parklife album and think tank. graham coxon even left at the start of recording for think tank but damon just took over guitar dutys. he is an unbelievable piano player amongst other instruments many of them foreign as seen in mali music and monkey- journey to the west. he released 2 gorillaz albums and finally broke america again experimenting in a new genre. every blur album sounds different which shows his versitility. he also formed a supergroup, the good the bad and the queen also in a different genre which went no.2 with NO airplay. it was many music channels album of the year in 07. noel gallagher has finally admitted damon is more talented and over the long run he has blown the gallaghers away. just look at all the different projects he has undertook and excelled in. and what a frontman. just look at him in the early days and he makes the likes of pete doherty, liam gallagher, amy winehouse etc. look like angles. he has countless numbers 1's, sold millions upon millions. 32_4_1 (Meath) - Posts: 4196 - 27/07/2009 23:33:29 365375 Link 0 |

Would have to agree that Monsieur Albarn is a very talented man indeed, although I am a big Blur fan as well. Was somehwat disappointed with them at Oxegen, as they had looked far better the week before when they headlined Glastonbury, but I suppose you can't be good all of the time. gilly0512 (Galway) - Posts: 1176 - 28/07/2009 23:05:45 367419 Link 0 |
what are you talkin about patrique. he was probably the most famous person in the 90's. did u have your head in the clouds for most of it 32_4_1 (Meath) - Posts: 4196 - 31/07/2009 15:23:51 371652 Link 0 |

most talented and gifted musician - yea, he's good but that good, dont think so. Anyway, is he a musician? seen Blur and The Good, the Bad and the Queen a few times, never seen him play any instruments or am I just been pedantic cmx (Monaghan) - Posts: 446 - 31/07/2009 21:29:23 372202 Link 0 |
what do you mean is he isnt a musician. he has composed nearly every blur, gorillaz and good the bad and the queen song. and he plays guitar and piano on stage all the time. it depends though. he hasnt really played piano at oxegen or glastonbury etc on the universal but he does on stuff like talk shows etc. anyway he's hammered on stage most of the time 32_4_1 (Meath) - Posts: 4196 - 31/07/2009 21:49:05 372220 Link 0 |

albarn strikes me as a pretentious so and so. dont think he is a genius at all as im not a fan of his music. but to say he was the most famous man of the 90s is plain wrong. whether you like oasis or not musically there is no denying the gallaghers were everywhere from 1994-1998. kilglasskrazy (Roscommon) - Posts: 80 - 01/08/2009 20:09:57 373137 Link 0 |
Albarn has done some good stuff….. nowhere near as good as Noel Gallagher though. dubinpain (Dublin) - Posts: 84 - 11/08/2009 14:07:25 387736 Link 0 |
I'd class him as average. I don't like Blur at all although I appreciate he has done some good stuff with them which appeals to some people. Sawyer (Louth) - Posts: 269 - 11/08/2009 16:32:01 388100 Link 0 |
is this the same noel gallagher dubinpain who has showed time and time again he can only write within one genre and who has limited songwriting abilitys. he has admitted he is running out of things to write about. oasis have only outsold blur so far because of "what the story". dont worry though, damon will soon outsell noel and oasis. just look at dig out your soul. a complete flop. only sold well enough due to oasis' big fanbase from whats the story. was destroyed by the critics just like every album after 96 32_4_1 (Meath) - Posts: 4196 - 11/08/2009 20:54:53 388539 Link 0 |
