On paper you have better players and managment? The managment part I agree with the players part no way.....From Mayo I would only take Higgins,Dillion,McGarrity,Parsons,The full back and perhaps another forward but thats it.... paddym123 (Meath) - Posts: 367 - 27/07/2009 13:02:34 363942 Link 0 |

Limerick will be the Beechers for us so far but Mayo will just another routine hurdle, a nice smooth jump and we're over without any real danger. Htaem (Meath) - Posts: 8657 - 27/07/2009 13:50:48 364069 Link 0 |

Mick14 what on earth are u basing your idiotic notion on cos ye gallantly LOST in a munster final and a less than average meath team prob still good enough to beat the GALLANT munster final LOSERS. If Mayo are not in the semi finals it would be a real embaressment for mayo football. Stick with the hurlers at least ul have a day out in croke park although i hope tipp win by at least 20 points. I have already resigned myself to the fact we will be playing meath although i don't care which mediorce team we play. Nice one GURTY....keep them coming although we've heard them all before, have plenty of friends from Meath!! Don't think the country as a whole grasps the extent of the animosty that is held for the Meath footballers among alot of Mayo people...God, 13 years has seemed like an eternity to have a go a Meath...I shall be roaring Meath on for the 1st time in my life on Saturday night! An Mhi Abu! Bring it then.... ballinaman (Mayo) - Posts: 226 - 27/07/2009 14:44:34 364201 Link 0 |

mayo would be favourites no doubt (limerick or meath) but with all this talk of embarressment and revenge it feels like mayo have the same old attitude problems and may be taking their eye off the ball. out of the three teams limerick have been the only one to play a recognised contender and put it up to them, and meath are well used to croker so all this talk of huge embarressment is crazy. u would be fav's but any team in quaters are their on merit. jaffacake (Meath) - Posts: 720 - 27/07/2009 14:48:51 364213 Link 0 |

All things being equal, I'd personally prefer to face Meath than Limerick (we'll know what to expect from Meath). If Limerick had gone out of the hurling, I'd be inclined to tip them to repeat last year's win over the Royals (in a less one-sided game). But since the Dubs hurlers didn't finish the business yesterday, the prospect of the likes of Lucey and co. getting injured playing for the footballers a couple of weeks before a hurling semi, in a county where football is still the lesser game with supporters, is bound to tell. So Meath should be able to take advantage and scrape through. I hope then that Meath are as good as some of their supporters think... neither side will be helped facing The Kingdom or the Dubs by limping through some poor, stupid grudge match. Meath won't lack for size, strength or attitude and they've got some decent forwards given space, but Meath friends readily admit they lack a bit of pace, and the Dubs aren't the only side with the players to take advantage... Limerick have one or two players who might cause Meath problems for starters... Pericles (Mayo) - Posts: 2521 - 27/07/2009 15:11:34 364292 Link 0 |

Enough of this sympathising towards limerick, did they beat cork..no, mind you cork played absolutely terrible putting it nicely and limerick still couldnt take advantage.Secondly, will they beat meath??..a most certain rubber stamped NO ! Meath have encountered tougher tests to date and have been fair to good. Two divisions separate these teams and even if it does turn out to be a close game, meath have the bench to call upon to see themselves past limerick. As for a possible Mayo/Meath encounter, a very close game to call but what sort of man would i be if i didnt say Mayo.Heart says Mayo but head says Mayo also as motivation to beat the old enemy being the deciding factor.Grrr Meath In the Parish !
