Tyrone v Kildare-Real tie of the round

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

This is the one draw I didn't want, Tyrone haven't had to get out of second gear this year so far and Kildare will definitely up the anti. Hopefully the in house matches between the squad themselves have been of a higher intensity than what they have had to play. Would also like to see seannie stay out in the middle to play against Dermot Early. Two brilliant players which should make a great contest

omaghredhand, Yes, we had an advantage over Dublin and still got beat when really we should have taken them, and perhaps using Wicklows wins over Fermanagh , Cavan and Down isnt exactly the smartest way of justifying how much improved Kildare are; but just look at last years championship for a minute. Wicklow beat us in Croker , we re-grouped and beat Cavan , Limerick , and then Fermanagh before losing to Cork in a game that we actually could have won at the end . The experience of those games set us up nicely for this year , and the experiences gained in the Dublin and Wicklow games will surely be built on this weekend. Kildare are mostly a young and in-experienced side , with a good proportion of the lads in only their 2nd or 3rd year of championship football, but they are learning and improving all the time. In normal propability, Tyrone should beat Kildare, but Tyrone havent had a hard game yet wich could very well work in Kildares favour. just look at Wexford last year? They had Tyrone on the ropes but in the end Tyrone emerged on top. They say its a sign of a teams class that they can emerge as winners even when they have an off day. Tyrone are a class act , no doubt about that , but at the end of the day , its 15 v 15 and 70 mins, who knows what can happen? all in all , it should be a great game of football and an enjoyable day for both us lillies and ye redhands no matter the result, CILL DARA ABU!

hokeypokey, you dont see where the scores will come from? ALan Smith and Johnny Doyle are both in th top end of this years scoring charts with 20 points each, actually , i dont think theres a tyrone player in the top ten ........ all 6 of our starting forwards scored against dublin , and 4 out of 6 starting forwards scored against wicklow with Eamonn Callaghan coming off the bench to score aswell, Dermot Earley has chipped in with a fair shair of scores aswell, 10 for the season from midfield is a nice achievement.... Kildare may have played 5 games compared to Tyrones 3, but our top 3 scorers - Doyle , Smith and Kavanagh - have hit 57 between them , Tyrones top 3 have 21 between them...... surely you mean - where are TYRONES scores going to come from?

Omaghredhand i know the quality tyrone have an what they are capable of.Its the q.finals an just think kildare will be up for this clash with wicklow running them close an the dub,s beating them with a man down i think this will stand to them an they will gain from it. I just dont think tyrone are goin to have it all there own way, either way it makes for a great game...

lads an appeal to all the kildare people posting on here..lets go dark for the rest of the week please..it does not matter what you say in here or who you try to argue with about our chances your wasting your time..the rest of the country thinks we will be beaten handy enough so let it be..whats the point arguing with people like barney leg-end and toma007..complete waste of time.i would bet most tyrone people would struggle to name 5of our players..i will say one thing before i go dark..tyrone haven't been tested once this year..they are far and away the best team in ulster but i wouldn't pay to much attention to what they beat in ulster this year..my own opinion is that ulster is an average enough province with a lot of very average teams..we will be massive underdogs and that is a title that kildare carry very easy..roll on sunday

Brilliant draw! Its great to be playing top top teams. Kildare have nothing to loose and will give it a right lash. There will be much to learn prom playing the team of the decade at the business end of the championship. Ive always been a massive fan of the way tyrone play football. Have seen them training up in Maynooth college a few times, and the training sessions are as intense and entertaining as championship matches. Cant wait!

I believe like most posters this will be a cracking game! Definitely it'l be a step up from anything we've seen so far, intensity wise! If Kildare can stop silly goals going in we're in with a shout, thats our main priority nd if can sort it out we'l push them nd hopefully scrape it! Really lookin foreward to the game!! C'mon the Lily's!!!

Kildare-Real ???? I know they play in all-white and Christy Ronniefallover had a makeover weekend there but ye wouldn't regard them as Galacticos. Or is it Dermot Early's Zidane haircut that has ye confused ?

No way Kerry v Dublin is the biggest this weekend, two giants of GAA teams down through the years.

der_bomber; ye couldnt beat Dublin with 14 players for about 50 minutes, how do you think you can beat the All - Ireland champions? They've won Ulster without breaking a sweat.

TYRONE by 10 points easy, killdare have the worst full back line left in the competion and with cavanagh, o neill, and mulligan leading their attack, this will be a stroll for tyrone, also kevin hughes has been the best midfielder in the competion along with dermot early, it will be interesting to see if hughes can keep earley quiet, if he does, kildare have no chance, cork are the only team left who can stop tyrone wining the all ireland.

toma007 ..your the same fella who was predicting a 15point win for the dubs in the leinster final..we are dublin we believe..what drivel.and as for hyping up our team thats one thing where we wouldn't quite be in the same league as you dublin fans...i asked you to name 5kildare players in the lead up to the leinster final and not once were you able to..in fact even after the game i'd say it would still be a struggle for you.your perfectly entitled to your opinion and this is the forum where you choose to voice it..problem is you really don't have a notion about kildare

Gabzer, my point exactly. Tyrone's scores come from everywhere, i am confident that tyrone can stop doyle and smith who havent come up against the likes of tyrone yet. Can Kildare stop the likes of harte, jordan, cavanagh, mcginley, mcmenamin, hughes, mcguigan, penrose, o'neill, mulligan and dooher?

To judge Kildare on their Wicklöw performance as poor is not fair on Wicklow. Wicklow are one of the most improved teams in the country and played some great football last week. Kildare will not be easy beaten and Tyrone have no great record against them either down the years. It is a long time since there was a championship encounter but in the league I dont remember Tyrone winning in Newbridge too often.

Kildare are in for a hammering struggled to put Wicklow away who had only one decent foward The Tyrone fowards will take them to
the cleaners Kildare full back line very poor no place for a ballet dancer
