Stong lad..not much speed so need the ball put in close to him! He can win ball over his head very well... hold players off and creates his space very well.

A real talent for the future but he needs the right ball...no good putting them out to the wings for him to chase.

The Face

Murphy is a very talented footballer but the same hype was around McFadden a few years ago and hes just a journeyman now. A few years before that it was Devanney. The reason Murphy is top scorer in the Championship is that Donegal have played more games than anyone else in the competition and 2 were against weak teams at home. I thought he started well against Galway but they had the measure of him in the second half and the Donegal fans saying that was because of the sweeper - well guess what Cork are going to do? To get the best out of Murphy he needs quick ball into him and Donegal just won't do that -its just not in their DNA. I really hope Donegal win this weekend but they came up short in 2006 and this is a far superior Cork team they are facing this weekend.

Sure we know that Cork will be well aware of Murphy's threat and use tactics to try and stifle him, but we were saying how Galway copped onto him and responding to the notion that "Hanley got the better of him" when he didn't really, he just had help when their tactics changed. One on one Murphy destroyed Hanley.

I do think you're right though, it's not in our make-up to let quick ball into the forward line and I think Murphy will probably suffer as a result. Talented lad though, no doubt about it.

Do u think J.J and the management won't know that Cork will sweep in front of them. I'd say they will try him inside for the first 15 mins, and then put him out to wing-forward to get him on the ball. Like all great forwards he is versatile enough to this.
