You say your father is Irish.. Well, if you say northern nationistss are British because they have a UK govt then your same logic means that your great grandfather and all his forefathers were British too as all ireland was in the UK. I don't hear you banging on about that? Do you see what i am getting at- Yes, we all know 6c in under UK govt ( like all of Ire was almost 90 years ago ) but my point is that you really need to learn that being British and being governed by the British is not the SAME thing?? My own little stalker, where did i ever say Northern Nationalists were British? . Now this is the last time i'm responding to someone on his summer holidays paddyogall (Mayo) - Posts: 5110 - 25/07/2009 14:34:24 361550 Link 0 |

Exiled Kickham County: All Posts: 19 361625 Re: Toma007:Dublin I totally agree with your sentiments! Why should Mary attend a game between 2 teams from the occupied six counites? Well for one Mary is from North Belfast originally, Ardoyne to be precise and also spent time living in Warrenpoint Co Down. The likes of the uneducated Galway yahoos you met and PaddyOgall obviously have no knowledge of or pride in Irish history. But Tom, what to expect Connacht was always a very quiet place during times of turmoil in Ireland. Yawnnnnnnnnn you do know the first republic in Ireland was the Republic of Connacht, the most famous battle in irish history was you guessed it the Battle of Tourmakeady and notable mention to the races of Castlebar which was the main battle that led to establishment of the Republic of Connacht, but you yourself have probably never heard of this before, in fact I'd put my house down that you never heard of this before. Connacht had more people per capita in the old IRA. The fact that some people are realists seems to grate on the "Chuckys" and "armchair republicans" paddyogall (Mayo) - Posts: 5110 - 25/07/2009 15:52:24 361640 Link 0 |

paddy the way you keep on its more likely that this is your idea of a joke rather then a seriously held political point of view, either way if we came across each other and I had my old hurl handy i'd sure give you a fine skelp across your Mayo arse. corkcelt (Cork) - Posts: 4388 - 25/07/2009 16:30:31 361665 Link 0 |

Paddy I think you are referring to the 1798 united Irishman inspired Irish republic declared in Mayo near castlebar after a short battle with the english forces. The french army actually were the principal force supported by United irishmen from castlebar. Often erroneously refferred to as the The republic of Connaught by some lazy historians. Tourmakeady as i have read was an incident in the war of independence where their was some little action between the flying columns and the english forces. Not a great battle unless you have another battle in mind. But it pleases me that you are going to such lengths to educate the hogan stand readership. I am very proud of you , you do more to keep the injustice of partition to the fore than any other single person in Irish society. Please keep the good work up. derryman (Derry) - Posts: 3246 - 25/07/2009 22:03:58 361900 Link 0 |
