Derryman, actually many of the people of the West are of Ulster extraction. When Cromwell took the good lands from the people of Ulster and hence the saying "To Hell or to Connacht" Paddyogall could be actually from St. Galls in Antrim !!

Well said Tom. Paddyogall is only wumming, one of his favourite wumming topics. Indeed the name paddyogall is infamous with the term wumming. Indeed many a nation has taken it to be the true definition of a wum.

Well Tomaoo she is the President of the Republic of Ireland, Not Northern Ireland Queen Elizabeth is their head of state. Obviously you are not Irish when you don't even know the title of your own President. BTW why do you regard Uachtarán na hÉireann is a foreigner? It also amuses to note that people in the west of the country wonder why the President who is from Antrim would not be at an Antrim match!!

This argument, or more aptly, petty squabble, raises its extremely ugly head from time to time. We have various protagonists using various weaponry - none of which does any of them any credit. It is a dirty battle fought on the basis of anonymity and as such there will never be a winner nor will anyone emerge with any credit. It is a futile and mindless engagement.

Any person on this island - north or south and with the tiniest particle of grey matter - is well aware of the many tragedies that occurred during what are known as the Troubles. They are aware of the hardships of communities, the atrocities visited on people and the hardship of general day to day living due to a variety of factors.

Political footballs are kicked around this board with abandon with little or no respect for those who suffered, or at best - through sheer ignorance. People who taunt from afar are reprehensible. People who hide behind aspects of this history are wrong too. In any case while this may be a GAA message board, it is not the place to score points on this.

There are numerous difficulties remaining on this island. Scars are still healing, some will never heal, bridges being built and new relationships still taking their formative steps. Even among the GAA community, both north and south there are people that would have greatly diametric views on progress to date and future progress.

Tolerance, understanding and accommodation have largely taken us to this point. It would be better if posters here could exercise these virtues also. Or if they can't, then refrain totally from becoming embroiled or worse, inciting - especially for the sake of it.

Paddy, You don't have any problems in "your country". I don't suppose you were out harassing you Minister for Agriculture for cutting your free hand outs? Your financial sytem is in ruins. You have a health service that would embarass any 3rd world country. Thank God you have no problems. What have the people from the North of Ireland ever done to you? Don't forget that it was your cowardly "government" that left these people to be murdered, tortured, jailed and treated as second class citizens in their own land. And you wonder why people think that you are second generation English when you unashamedly state that you have more interest in Cricket than Hurling.

Not if you lived in Northern Ireland, there is little dispute that she has Juristriction for the Republic of ireland only anyone who says otherwise is clearly deluding themselves, But from here on in i will pander to the deluded. we're all the one country there was a just a terrible mistake on all those maps and constitutions, Sligo dont take Mayo's "B" team players that was just a terrible rumour some one started. Celtic are the best team in the world and are as irish as you can get., they have their headquaters in Gweedore somewhere. There i hope that makes everyone happy

Paddy..you're own mother and her family are also from a part of the world that is under UK rule IE Devon...Do you constanltly barrack her about that and give your own family a hard time ???

You say your father is Irish.. Well, if you say northern nationistss are British because they have a UK govt then your same logic means that your great grandfather and all his forefathers were British too as all ireland was in the UK. I don't hear you banging on about that?

Do you see what i am getting at- Yes, we all know 6c in under UK govt ( like all of Ire was almost 90 years ago ) but my point is that you really need to learn that being British and being governed by the British is not the SAME thing??
