Paddyogall-Your reaction to Derrymans comments is unworthy of you and quite shameful. He stated some facts nothing more.

I would imagine you were brought up in a quite 'normal' society in rural Ireland. Sadly your GAA colleagues in the North were not afforded such a luxury, some would say a basic human right!. You should read an article in last week's Sunday Inde featuring 2 of Antrim's greatest footballers. They did not over egg the difficulties of trying to exist in the North through very difficult times but you do not have to be an intellectual to understand what was going on.

Its good to know that we had plenty of support around the country but I suspect your voice is in a minority of 1!

that response of paddyogall is shamefull. I remember reading that a footballer was shot going to training in Aughnacloy (i think)....you didn't have to contend with that in Mayo.

360028 so why the lack of hurling? genuine question
_____________

Cant speak for the six counties Bad Monkey but I blame the poor land in Donegal - Difficult to grow ASH trees - whereas in the Glens of Antrim tree growing is clearly not an issue

Derryman, Glensman

You mention problems on THIS Island. Dont you mean the Problems in Northern Ireland. I couldnt care less about what goes on up there. But we dont have problems in this country thank God. In fact i would have more interest in Cricket as some one else has pointed out

Glensman do not get too concerned with Paddy he provides a great service to GAA in that he forces the issues none of us really want to bring to the fore. His obvious wind ups causes people to think through the issues. You may note the change of content in this thread after his first post. I believe he knows what he is doing and we should all congratulate him as his subterfuge is equal to or better than any thing MI6 could pull off. He obviously is very much a true patriot in disguise.

Padddy i have just returned from a most enjoyable trip to Dublin. I missed the ferry crossing though. Are you sure THIS island is not the correct reference.

It doesnt take a BEng to understand what i said, but i'll break it down for you. You mentioned problems on this Island, lumping in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. I pointed out that these problems only occur in Northern Ireland. I hope that cleared it up for you.

Paddy make up your mind do you dislike Ulster or just the just the occupied 6. You can be abit contradictory in your posts. If you want to keep the good work up you should be consistant in your dislikes. Otherwise everyone will come to understand that you really are only trying to keep the injustice of partition to the fore. Which you do really well actually.

jos33 you are right about people getting shot going to training, and gaa club houses are a constant source of attack by some, and any body in the vacinity is a TARGET. there was a case no more than 5 or 6 years ago when a young lad was shot dead outside a gaa clup in north belfast. he was targeted purely because he was outside the club by a loyalist hit squad. it later transpired the ypung lad was a protestant who was there with friends. i wonder paddyogall do you have to contend with this kinda crap in the beautiful mayo. also when some ignoramous decides to go out and attack an orange hall the inevitable reprecussions is a gaa club house gets attacked. the original attackers probably dont even know what the gaa is. so no ulster isnt great, the 6 couinties arent great but we are no less irish than you, and you cant argue have a lot more to contend with for the love of the gaa

I was for a few days in the west of ireland last week-i was in this pub there was a group of youngsters from 18-21 mary mcaleese was getting introduced to the teams 1 of the lads said why is she at the match-i asked why is that answer them teams are from northern ireland thats a different country i said ok and left it at that. Then the galway mayo teams are coming out in pearse stadium 1 of them shouts over thats where she should have been at her own countrys match. This sort of shows you the youth of today dont class the north as part of the south anymore.Derryman dont know what they teach them in school anymore its definitely not irish history

Imagine not knowing Mary McAleese was meeting her own county team in the first final in 39 years, she wouldn't have been anywhere else as a proud Saffron Supporter.
