Who was the greatest Ring or Carey?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Neither of them actually altered or influenced the game , the most revolutionary thing I ever saw DJ going was diving across the square to tap in a wide bound shot. Can't speak for Ring watched the TG4 documentary on him , maybe it was his professional-esque attitude to training which separated him from naturally talented players of his time that just turned up for matches. One man I feel really did influence the game is Mick Mackey, he practically invented modern hurling or at least the running aspect of it having been accredited with the invention of the solo run.

Every generation has it's greats
before Ring it was Mackey
After Ring it was Nicky Racard
just as nowadays it seems
DJ made way to Shefflin and (IMO) Shefflin will to Canning

Sparrow O'Loughlin, Fingers O'Connell, Ollie Baker and Eammon Taaffe would all have to be on the shortlist.

All of the above come after Patterson of course.

I already knew I was the best, Hipster, but thank you for pointing it out.

If I had said it as a matter of fact, I would have been accused of boasting.

When we get these "who was greatest" threads I always assume it means apart from Patrique.

have to throw me 2cents in
i think carey was dynamite so was ring while both are impressive we have to say they cant be compaired hurler of today has a diet and a fitness program
although they did some training in rings time nothing compaired to today
the generation of rings time didnt have life as handy as today men worked long and hard you know how the story goes
we will just have to put our hands up for them both
the excitement and dissaray they brought when they stepped out on to the field
because thats all most of them were in rings case and well we can say better surface for carey
still shame there both finished but hey we still have some realy great tallent at the minute and not just kilkenny although they are the kings of hurling
but some new plays on the way from cork galway doing a little fine tuneing waterford suspect tipp great form the dubs one to watch
fair play to anthony daly a true gent deserves respect

all im saying is the cats for 4in a row looks good
watch tis space
