Neither of them actually altered or influenced the game , the most revolutionary thing I ever saw DJ going was diving across the square to tap in a wide bound shot. Can't speak for Ring watched the TG4 documentary on him , maybe it was his professional-esque attitude to training which separated him from naturally talented players of his time that just turned up for matches. One man I feel really did influence the game is Mick Mackey, he practically invented modern hurling or at least the running aspect of it having been accredited with the invention of the solo run.
