Daniel Gorman, Padraic O Hara, Naoise McGurran and Leroy Maguire, all Ballina, Ronan Barrett, Stephen McHugh, Shane Keane, Jason Donnelly, all Crossmolina were all noticeably absent from North East . Surely these are among the best U16s in the county!!

Surely crossmolina should have somebody good enough for north-east team. They have no minor on county team either this year and only one last year who had just transfered over from Ardmoy. I know this club puts in huge work under age and have a great structure.

It is nice for once for people to be talkin about the north east team.... Probably a better team than south west but they were knocked out by galway.. North east were 4 points up going into the last 5 minutes then galway scored 2 quick goals.... They also lost roscommon and beat clare but were knocked out!! It is a shame because now this will make south west even more cockier than they already are..assisted in no small part by clairmorris who just are the perfect example of cocky!!!

claremorris arent cocky.its ballina who are cocky.parents of the ballina players said their kids said it was a matter of turning up.south west are the better side they have beaten north east in challenge games

Gorman has played at midfield this season. He played fullback 2 seasons ago for U15s. Magurran has been Ballinas fullback for this season and last years under 15s. O Hara played the last 3 games in fullback as Magurran has a fractured ankle. I might also add the injury was a acquired in a soccer match against Claremorris. He was badly missed in the championship final.

Ballina were ridiculously cocky going into the Championship final, I admit they had reason to be, unbeaten all season til then like!.. Claremorris tried harder on the day, and that's what it boiled down to!.. Hard luck Ballina!

If Northeast is a better team than Southwest then why do they lose to southwest in challenge games, and why are Southwest the only team still in the competition!.... Can't argue against results PredNo1

South West are definitely the better team. As mentioned in a previous comment some of the best players in the county from the North East were not in the selection, namely those from Ballina and Crossmolina. It would probably be a different result if these players had played for the North East. The South West have the best players in their region on the squad and thus have made it through. Results mean nothing when the players arent there. The Ted Webb selection process in the North East needs a review and we will see very few of the current North East panel on either minor or senior county panels of the future but their are alot of other very fine players around who either werent selected or chose not to attend who we will see.

Ya thats rubbish if you ask me..North east were knocked out by luck.. Galway got 2 lucky breaks and got 2 goals...Guarenteed should that south west team have played that galway team they wouldnt have even been a close margin... North east are a better side..People only think differently because clairmorris and cbar and westport are in south west....

I think you've missed the point there! South West are in fact the better team as a result of the selection. They have all the best players from the South West on that team. North East on the underhand have the potential to be twice the team that they are. Again ask where are the strongest players in the North East. For reasons unknown they are not on the Ted Webb team. Ask your self where is Mayock Knockmore, Keane, Barrett, McHugh, Donnelly Crossmolina, O Hora, McGurrin, Gorman Ballina. These are among the best in the county let alone in the North East. The North East team was ok but not as good as it should have been. A few of these men in the selection would have made the difference

o hora and gorman got cleaned in the county final

Maybe so, to a certain extent in regards to Gorman, he had a huge man to contend with but Gorman would be a far more talented footballer than his Claremorris counterpart. Although O Hora did not play to his best I wouldnt not accept that he was cleaned as you put it. Remarks such as these do no more than highlight the cocky arrogance of certain claremorris team members. Accept the win with good grace. On another day remember the shoe could be on the other foot.

shocks007, do you mean to say that each ballina man was cleaned or something? ballina won a lot of individual battles too, its just that some key positions down the middle were being dominated by claremorris and this was a big factor contributing to their win. sean gill the claremorris wing back was causing havoc at wing back breaking through and quirke also, gill was somewhat quitened when tighe was switched onto him but quirke continued to break through and score and set up for others. had ballina coped with this it would have been a different results in my (neural)
