Pace and complacency will beat Tyrone?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

a few right dodgy comments on here "tyrone arent this , tyrone arent that", well it really does pain me to say it but tyrone are outstanding. the reason they win so much is because of 3 simple reasons
1 their workrate - very few teams can match their workrate from 2 - 15
2 their ability to score - anybody from 2 -15 could be on the score sheet in any given match
and last but by no means least their modesty - from an outsider looking in it looks as though each and everyone of them are very very glad to have a tyrone jersey on them and dont see it as their right but as their privilege, and that i think is key to tyrones success.

When you say that Cork have historically given Tyrone their fill of it shall we put that into context, Tyrone & Cork have met ONCE in 125 years of championship history, the AI semi in 1973, where a Jimmy Barry-Murphy inspired Cork steamrollered a Tyrone team making their first appearance at Croke park in 20 years. Today the tables have turned and now Tyrone are top dogs, that said Cork are probably the one team that I would fear playing, simply due to the 'unknown' factor.

Brendt, By giving them their fill of it I do not necessarily mean that they beat them. I am aware that they have only met once in Championship, however they have met approx a dozen times in NFL albeit back to 1980's. Tyrone have a good win record winning 9 however there was generally only a couple of points in it either way. This is my point. The last couple of NFL games have seen a winning margin of only a couple of points. Due to the fact that there was no back door system until recently and due to the fact that up until recently Tyrone only played in 5/6 All Ireland semis/finals. This is why I have used league games as a comparison

Nothing or no one will beat tyrone, Pace? We have the best half back line in the country, a very strong full back line and u think pace is a weak point if u look at the replay joe McMahon quit chasing the player half way and if tyrone were playing near their best they would 4 players closing him down

Much as it pains me to agree with Joe Brolly but he made an excellent point in Gaelic Life a few weeks ago. Basically he said that Cork wouldn't beat Tyrone because they have never played the Red Hands in a Championship match and therefore have no idea about the intensity Tyrone can reach when it gets to a Semi Final or Final.

IF Tyrone meet Cork I would fancy Tyron as they are more battled hardened than Cork. Cork (man for man) are better than Kerry but that doesn't mean they will win Sam or beat Tyrone.
